    Saturday

Razor: 6/8 JM Scmhid & Son
    Brush: Omega Boar
    Soap: Institut Karite
    A/S: Polo

Excellent Saturday shave, if brief because I was getting ready to go to the store to get things to cook for my wife on her birthday. No DE touch up required again...I think I'm starting to get the hang of using a straight! Polo (my wife's favorite) provided an excellent finish to a very good shave.

Thanks. My wife found the brush at an estate sale-$5! It shed for about 10 uses and I was getting concerned about breaking in a useless brush-it finally
stopped the last time I used it. I don't use boar very often but it's really growing on me.

I am still learning. I need to learn more about settings, but for now the new FujiFilm camera is doing an excellent job on auto setting.

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow
    Brush: Vie-Long Gonzalo Boar/Horse
    Cream/Soap: Provence Sante Verlaine Soap
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Provence Sante Verlaine Splash

A very fine shave--the Gonzalo easily whipped up a great lather. The Verlaine scent has components of linden and verbena (U.S. terminology). We have a linden tree in our back yard, and my wife often grows verbena in the flower garden. When in bloom, both scents are wonderful. To my uneducated nose, there seems to be an added citrus note in the PS Verlaine splash. Very nice.

    Sunday, October 23. Good Morning!

Give 'em Some Cheap "Cost Effective" Love

Morning Coffee: Hills Brothers Original Blend
Prep: Hot shower w/Pre de Provence 20% Shea Butter Soap, wash face with Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Razor: Edwin Jagger DE87
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Blue
    Cream: ARKO Stick (grated)
    Brush: D.R. Harris H1
Post: Cold water rinse followed by some Floid Blue After Shave Splash

Note: After all the reading and recommendation from Nick, I finally decided to try some ARKO Stick. I grated the stick in to an empty Cella red container and compacted it by covering it in wax paper and applying pressure with a small Mickey Mouse juice glass. After letting my brush soak it HOT water, I loaded it with soap, then using an old antique Dunkin Donut coffee cup, whipped up this whip cream type lather. Wow! What a shave. Now the smell, what smell? It smells like a bar of Ivory soap, which to me is kind of refreshing.

Arko is now in my rotation. No doubt, the cheapest shave out there. And as Nick would say, DFS!

    Sunday: some Portuguese love

    Omega Wooden Handle
    Super Speed/Rapira day 3
    Musgo Real SC :love029: :love029: :love029::love029:
    Musgo Real Classic AS :love029: :love029: :love029: :love029:

A shave like this just can't get any better - 3 passes with this delightful cream and my absolute favorite razor/blade combination gave me a super-ultra BBS result. Again, I didn't use any moisturizer, and I didn't need it, because the Musgo aftershave has an oily base which gives plenty of moisturizing and protection against dryness and irritation. ;)

    Sunday

Prep: 30 minute marinade with TSD ISZ PSB, hot shower
    CD: Rich Mullins ~ Songs
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Kenya Safari Ridge, BLACK
Soap: VDH Select + 3 generous drops of M Bomb
    Brush: The Dridecker

Blade: Gem, day 6, 3+ passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Brut ASB + 2 drops M Bomb, Brut cologne

    Shave Rating: 5 Blades

A super shave. For how it shaved, if I hadn't known this was the sixth shave with this blade, I might have easily thought it was the second or third; it was that smooth.

    Off to church!

Oh man, you mentioning Rich Mullins brings back a lot of memories. Growing up my parents always listened to contemporary Christian radio, and they unfortunately flogged poor Rich Mullins to death long before his tragic accident by playing him literally about every third song. I never appreciated his greatness until I was older, because he was just so darn overplayed on the radio. But he really was one of the great songwriters in Christian music. We Are Not As Strong As We Think We Are is one of my all time favorite songs, and I still find myself singing it now and then. Thanks for that, swarden. Think I'll have to put that album on this afternoon.
