O'Brother where Art though, one of my favourite flims, and certainly the best sound track of any film no doubt. Dont you just love those Soggy bottom boys, and Alison Krauss as the voice of a Angel. Regards Jamie.

Thursday, December 1, 2011 - Today's the day! Prep: Hot shower; CB Super Sensitive facewash; hand strop blade Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Nicaraguan w/ cream Lather: Musgo Real - bowl lather Brush: Vulfix 2234 Razor: Gem MMOC Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (3); 3 passes Post: Cold water rinse; Captain's Choice Bay Rum mixed w/ CB super sensitive face lotion After reading some more threads about shaving angle I decided to try a very steep angle with the MMOC this morning. I've seen R41 users implementing this type of angle so I thought it was similar enough to the MMOC to give it a go. I must say that I'm quite impressed. I thought that I'd be carving my face up, but instead I noticed a smoother & closer shave with zero irritation. Even my neck allowed me to go slightly ATG w/out trouble. More use with this is needed but I'm happy with it so far. Give it a try! Shave Rating - Splendidly Sublime. God Bless!
Thursday - another day closer. Prep: Hot shower CD: Bill Miller ~ Hear Our Prayer Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Ethiopia Illubabor, BLACK Soap: Tabac Brush: C&E Pure Badger Razor: Fat Handle Tech Blade: Astra SP, day 4, 3+ passes Post: Cold water rinse, Brut ASB, Brut cologne, hand strop blade Shave Rating: 5 Blades I really wasn't expecting the shave to be this good with the Tech. I'll blame the Tabac
Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 Brush: Omega 21047 Razor: 1966 Gillette Slim, 4 Blade: "Fred's" ASR Personna super stainless, 1 Soap: Williams Toner: - Finish: Prairie Creations 'Cool Spring' fern scent AS balm Super smooth and close. This Personna and my newly acquired Slim on setting 4 are fantastic together for me! The O. 21047 has been hard to break in and rather coarse. I've soaked it in vinegar a couple of time, and even swirled lightly on some 220 garnet paper, and this has helped flag the tips. It's much, much nicer now! OK, so it's a little unorthodox to use such an aggressive method , but I felt it warranted it in this case, and it worked. Happy shaving!
Thursday Morning: Hot Towel Merkur 23c Shark Super Chrome (Shave 3) Omega Boar Proraso Aloe and Green Tea Thayers Witch Hazel Nivea Replenishing ASB This mornings shave was better than the last with the Shark, though it was not the closest, I quit while I was ahead.
Thursday, December 1st Razor: Merkur Futur Blade: Personna Med Prep Brush: Thater Stout 1 Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Cream: Egyptian Ingrams A/S: DRH Marlborough I tried a few new items today. The Egyptian Ingrams cream was a gift from Jeff (Crackstar). It seems to have a bit more menthol than the UK Ingrams and the scent is a bit different...I think I detect eucalyptus. I REALLY like this cream. It whipped up a lather easily, the lather was stable and my face felt cool and smooth when I was done. If you can find this version of Ingrams, definitely pick it up. I also used the Personna Med Prep blade for the first time. The first pass was so-so but then the blade really started to shine. I enjoyed an irritation free BBS shave and will be interested to see how many shaves I can get out of the blade.
Thursday: Razor: Merkur 38C Blade: Wilkinson Sword Brush: Best Badger Soap: Van der Hagen Deluxe A/S: Gillette Cool Wave EdT: Safari
I am running a day late. Was working last night and spent today sleeping......so no Thursday shave for me. Wednesday: Preshave shower with hair conditioner as a 'softener' Feather Artist Club SS with Feather Professional Blade Semogue 1250 Brush L'Occitane Cade soap Alum Block Simple Moisturiser Floid Original A/S I am getting more confident with the AC. Not sure why....but for some reason the shaves seem to be lasting longer. They don't feel as if they are.......they just look as if they are.
Hot shower Omega boar brush Erasmic cream EJ89L Astra blade (day 4) Dirty english ASB DFS shave but face has felt better, Im inclined to blame the erasmic (2nd time ive tried it) neither shave was fantastic, I didnt use the proraso pre today so I could gauge the erasmic better, I realise it was also a day 4 blade but last time I used a day 2 and i still felt the same about the cream.
If you do not have some, get some Proraso in the green tube or green tub and use that with the Proraso Pre/Post Cream. It will give you a fantastic shave and your face will feel great.
Agreed on both accounts! I never knew I liked Bluegrass until I saw this movie. Now I actually listen to the likes of Bill Monroe. I've become a huge Alison Krauss fan. I had the opportunity to visit the Country Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville recently. Alison Krauss gets a lot of real estate there. It's a wonderful museum.
Sorry just saw this thread: Monday-thursday: gillette fatboy williams soap boarhair brush aqua-velva I'm a "just not known for change" kinda guy Also just getting back into using a DE razor so I went with what I knew worked. I've had my gillette razor for 20 years now and its been probably 15 since I used it last!
Nothing wrong with being a "just not known for change" kinda guy. Never let an old classic go to waste. If what you are using works for you, stick with it.
