I used a slant, briefly, last year. It shaved well but I can't say it shaved better or any differently from my DEs.

For regular slant users here, what do you find to be the advantage(s) of a slant over a regular DE? Thanks for any input...

Nothing advantageous really Don, just a different way of doing it. It does seem to mow down more stubble easier but if you are shaving everyday then it isn't a big benefit. Other than saying you use a slant ;)

It slices through stubble with the greatest of ease. If I skip a shave or two, it's very advantageous.
If I shave every day, it's no better or worse than my other DEs.

I've got a Slant loaded for this weeks shaves.. It doesn't do anything my other razors can't do and in some instances, it can be too much of a good thing. I find I look forward as much to using it as I do to moving on to the next razor in rotation.

This may sound odd, but to me my Sledgehammer is probably the smoothest razor I have; it just glides across my face. I don't know how to really describe the sensation other than to say the razor just "Hooks Up" with my face better than any other razor I own.

Correct - there is really no difference.

I was thinking this morning as I was using Merkur Slant...this doesn't do anything my 34c doesn't do...and neither Merkur shave as smoothly, or look nearly as good as my EJ89...whether shaving daily, or every few days.

I agree with Aaron. My Sledge is smooooth. Really goes thru whiskers like they're not even there.

I think it depends on the slant, I loaned Merkur Sledgehammer and was not impressed. It just did not live up its hype for me. I then purchased a Pomco Slant and that is great at mowing down a few days stubble and could be used as a daily shaver, I then got a Fasan Double Slant and that is a beast. Great for mowing down the stubble but not as a daily razor, but nice to have and re-visit from time to time..............just don't put a feather in it.........:shocked003:

It is a good multipurpose razor. it mows down heavy growth , but also can give a bbs or near bbs fairly easily. I have a slight preference for adjustables and open combs to slants, but it is a solid razor and was my daily shaver for months. if you skip days, have a thick beard, etc it is well worth giving a slant a try.
