Looking at buying a gillette tech head from Bobs Razor Works. Has anyone use this rzor head before. How do it compare to the Muhle R89. The GTH looks like a straight bar, is this correct. What is the difference between a close comb an a straight bar. THANKS AN GOD BLESS.

that's a lot of questions- we'll see what I can answer:

    1. I have used a gillette tech, but not one from Bob's Razor works. It's a good moderate shave. Easy to reload blades and no moving parts to break.

    2. gillette tech vs. Muhle r89. Not sure. Haven't used a closed comb r89.

    3. Yes, the Gillette tech is a safety bar razor.

    4. Difference between closed comb and safety bar isn't big. They look different but they shave the same. The closed comb has grooves- looks like someone filled in the gaps on an open comb razor. The safety bar looks like a flat, straight bar.

    I think: Straight bar->Adjustable->Closed Comb->Open Comb
Heavy handle does not mean a better shave, the main point is the head
    His shape and his weight.

Ok lets try to answer some of your questions.
The Tech comes in a number of different types and the heads are different in the way that they shave. Later techs tend to be a bit on the mild side even if you team them up with a heavier handle. The best all rounder is this head design....http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Tech/1940s thin handle Tech in Bakelite England.JPG
It has a flat blade plate and a nice shallow head which means you can get around the difficult areas like under your nose with ease and teamed up with one of Bobs handles you should be happy with it............I use mine with an Ikon handle sometimes.
Shaving with a closed comb razor against a straight bar one is a much debated point and owning both I am not sure as there is much difference. An open comb razor is a different beast altogether they can be very aggressive depending on the type used, I shave almost exclusively with O/C razors now as I like the shave they give, (used an Aristo #15 for the last 2 weeks).
As far as the R89 I know nothing about that razor as I tend to go for vintage razors and only own 3 modern ones.
I hope this has been some help to you and if I can answer anymore questions ask away.

I have a pair of Bakelite closed comb DE razors from an unknown-to-me. They shave just like a pre 51 Tech.

Here is the visuals on an open and closed comb.

    Here is an open comb.

    Here is a closed comb.

Now some have a head that is a closed comb. Here is an EJ89 for example.

    EJ - De89lbl - TSD.jpg

Note the bar is there but is recessed back slightly, and fluted to resemble the open comb look.

Here is an solid bar example.

I have shaved with all three of these and the EJ is my favorite of these three types and is my favorite production razor. It is not my absolute favorite. The Gillette Slim, Senator/Sheraton and Ranger Tech are higher on my preference list. Of course YMMV.
