    :santa22 December 2011 3 days til Christmas:santa:transport022:TODAY'S SHOWER AND SHAVE:transport022:
I had a nice long shower. While showering my Parker Badger was soaking in a warm mug .
After I showered I applied Johnson Baby Oil then a warm water spalsh.
As the sink filled with hot water I began to lather La Savon a Barbie, Bay and Sweet Orange.
The Parker whipped mounds of luxury lather.
I choose again today the Knack and Voshkod combo. After three passes from the combo I had a very nice DFS.
The finish this DFS, warm water rinse, a polar water splash, then pat dried my face. The crowning to a great shave I splashed Thayer's Witch Hazel, finshed with Kapo balm.

In order to do that, do you mean that you turned the blade around and then flipped it over, using the 'B' side.? I see the blade edges are numbered 1-4, but I never thought one could get a close shave by flipping it over. If it works, it makes using a cartridge a really huge waste of money.

Nope. Just put the blade in and kept it in until the shaves became uncomfortable. I can get 7 out of most blades in the 89 regularly, making carts a true waste of money anyhow, but I get your point there ;).

:signs002: I don't understand. Why couldn't you use your razor after cleaning it? Even if you used Scrubbing Bubbles, just rinse and go. ???

I was letting it soak in scrubbing bubbles. My fatboy is old and was unused for about 12 years after being used in a hard water enviroment for several years by a young stupid kid (me) who never cleaned it after using it. I cleaned it up when I brought it home but I wanted it cleaner so I let it soak over night.

    Brush: Vie-Long Horse
    Soap/Creme: Cella
    Razor: Yuma
    Blade: Astra SP
    Pre: canned goo
    Post: Witch Hazel
    Hair Groom: Gables creme-oil
Result: I used canned goo massaged into my beard as prep. I had heard that it made a good prep, and it seemed serviceable, but did not blow me away. The Yuma razor, really did shave well, especially for such a cheap razor. it greatly exceeded my expectations.

Sorry I haven't been around a while, i've been in hospital drugged out of my head on morphine and tramadol, with a chronic back and siatic problem, i came home from hospital on monday, still house bound first time in my life, poor Wife has to wash dress and and carry for me. awaiting a CT scan hopefully early january, I really should have heeded the early warnings a few weeks ago, but I didn't being a Carpenter I thought I could just work through it BIG MISTAKE! Never again.
Anyway only the second or third shave with this razor since i restored it, really should use it more often lovely shave, if you dont hear from me much over the Christmas period then perhaps more in the New year, until then wishing all the members of the shaving room a very merry Christmas.

@ Jamie: Get well soon and I truly hope everything will get better. Back problems are no fun. I tore mine up in high school playing football and have regretted it ever since. Glad to hear your out of the hospital and bless your wife for caring for you in your time of need.

And now for the morning shave report brought to you by Maxwell house;)

Oh what a wonderful morning! Off work for xmas shut down and all is well.
Last night while I finished cleaning up my fatboy I decided to change things up a bit and boy oh boy was that a GREAT decision!
Ok 1st I usaully use a bowl to lather in. Its a little clay bowl I "barrowed" from the kitchen (dont tell the wife). The problem with this bowl is its small and round and narrow at the bottom then flares out pretty wide at the top. This causes a problem with the lather wanting to run up the side and over the edge onto my fingers. Which is a problem considering it smooth and slick.....Ive had several chances to let the little fella slip out of my hands and whack me it the toes.
So last night I got my old trusty Burmashave mug out and removed the VDH puck from it (put it in a ziplock ) cleaned everything up and used it to lather this morning. This worked out great because its a coffee mug so the lather actually stayed toward the bottom resulting in the thickest lather I've ever seen (using RazoRock classic, its always vey thick but WOW). It retained the heat from the hot water better in the sink also but my brush was a little short so I kept whacking my fingers while mixing but I can live with that small problem.
    The list:
    Burmashave mug
    RazoRock classic cream soap
    VDH brush
    Nicely cleaned Gillette Fatboy adjustable
Shark super chrome blade ( 1st trial off this blade. Pretty tuggy on the neck area resulting in several weepers/bleeders but no burn really)
    AquaVelva AS splash
3 passes WTG XTG ATG resulting in a DFS.
Cant wait to see what tomorrow will bring us.
