I just bought a new Parker 99r and the blade seems to protrude slightly more on one side than the other .I didn't have any problems with my first shave just wondered if that's normal . I haven't tried any other blade yet so i don't know if its the blade or not.

Hey Mike...is it possible to take a picture of the razor, and post it for us to see?

I dont think it will show up too well . it may just be the way I'm looking at it. But it seems like the blade has less gap to the bar on one side than the other.

Well, Parkers are well known as having some QC issues with alignment.
Do yourself a favor and when you look at the blade make sure that even though one side seems further out than the other, that the blade is parallel to the edge of the base plate and head. If so, you should not have an issue.

If the blade and base plate / head look like the left (blue being the base plate), you should have little to no problems.
Unless there is a major shift in one direction or the other causing one side the blade to be overexposed. If there is an overexposure you would know it soon enough in terms of razor burn.

If the blade looks like the right in a "non-slant" Double Edge razor then you will have problems because the blade can gouge instead of uniformly cut. You would know that quicker because of the way the blade will bite!

I think if you are not having a problem, then at worse you will have a slightly more aggressive side to the razor that might (and I do say might) only reveal itself with the sharpest of blades, maybe a Feather.

    Good fortune.

I just checked and the blade and it is like the left picture. It just is out more on one side.I just swapped the blade around so its not the blade.I'm not too worried i got a great shave today!

I would not be concerned then. Keep working on your technique and enjoy your shaves.

I just did some searches on the Parker 99R, and most were mentioning QC issues in the older 3 piece 99R. Not many issues with the new and redesigned 2010 99R Butterfly style head, however there have been a few.
