Hot Shower followed by Real Shaving Facial Scrub and Proraso Pre/Post cream Ford &Medley 333 Sheffield 5/8 razor Semogue 1470 Brush Mitchell's Woolfat Soap Alum Block and 444 ASB Old Spice A/S I did have a photo...but accidently formatted the card. This was my first shave with a traditional Straight. The razor was restored and supplied shave ready by The Invisible edge. I just gave it 20 laps on a laptop strop. I had no nicks burn or weepers and got a 3 pass DFS shave! Using this was quite different from both the Feather AC or Kai. I was able to hear the hairs being cut. Overall I am very pleased with my first attempt........although I think this will be reserved for days when I am not at work

I'm getting pretty sick (my wife and kids have brutal colds) and I am questioning if it was worth sacrificing the sleep for the shave...yeah...I must be getting sick. It was a good shave! A great DFS!

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar; hand strop blade Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Costa Rican w/ cream Lather: De Vergulde Hand - face lather *Christmas Gift* Brush: Vie-Long 13061 *Christmas Gift* Razor: Gem MMOC Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (8); 3 passes Post: Cold water rinse; Kiehl's Balm *Christmas Gift* It's been too long since I used De Vergulde Hand soap. This stuff lathers like mad and always gives me a fantastic shave. I know it's not the easiest soap to get here in the USA, but if you have a chance to pick it up, then do it! The horsehair brush does seem to be breaking in and generating a lot of lather. It has completely usurped all of my boars but I can't see it overtaking my better badgers at this point. Tuesday, January 3rd Razor: Wilkinson Sticky Blade: Polsilver Brush: Savile Row Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Cream: Italian Palmolive with Menthol A/S: Taylor Bay Rum The Wilkinson Sticky and Polsilver continue to impress and the Taylor Bay Rum was an excellent finish.
I think the angle may have been slightly off.... a little too flat. However.....the techniques used with the Feather/Kai transferred across fairly well

Soap: Speick (in a bowl) Toner: Alum block/rinse/Thayer's rose petal witch hazel Finish: Speick AS splash with a touch of PREP for extra moisture. Slight irritation, due to blade dulling, near my lip, but otherwise a really nice smooths have. Great brush/soap combo!
