    Thursday
    No prep
    Merkur 38C
    Astra Superior Platinum
    Edwin Jagger Pure Badger
    Proraso Aloe & Green Tea
    Cold Water Rinse
    Old Spice Classic A/S

I went with a new little trial this morning with waking up and just going straight to the bathroom and starting to shave. The Proraso really lathers well on the face though this bloody EJ brush makes it more work than it should be. I'm actually tempted to get an Omega Mighty Midget and have it express posted to base - just trying to find the easiest combination possible since I'm going to be basically going straight into the field for a few months when I get back and don't like really lathering in my canteen cup!

    1. Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar; hand strop blade
    2. Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Costa Rican w/ cream
    3. Lather: MWF - face lather
    4. Brush: Simpson's Commodore X2
    5. Razor: Gem OCMM
    6. Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (10); 3 passes
    7. Post: Cold water rinse; Aqua Velva + Kiehl's Balm

First off I must say after using the horsehair for 2 straight days that the Simpson's Best hair was a complete luxury. My stallion hasn't been tamed yet but I'll keep breaking him in, just not 2 shaves in a row again though. A bit of irritation on the left side of my neck as the blade was D.U.N., done. Fresh blade for tomorrow. But even with that the MWF felt wonderful and confirmed to me that I've waited too long to use it again. Definitely a top-tier soap worthy of its following. For those that have a hard time lathering it keep practicing, it's certainly worth the effort. The pic below is the leftover lather after my 3-pass shave.

Shave Rating - Splendid! God Bless!

-really wanted to use the feather but did not have time for full straight shave-very nice combo for BBS. Jimmy Rogers is up there
with BB King and Muddy Waters. Great Blues.

My daily driver and such a joy to use. The results speak for themselves!

My lathering technique has improved with each use of the Fat! I love how much lather it generates and how smooth and moisturized it leaves my face feeling. Hopefully it won't make all of your others soaps/creams too jealous!

    Razor: iKon OSS
    Blade: Gillette Dark Blue
    Brush: Semogue LE Boar
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Soap: Czech & Speake O&C
    A/S: Meeehan Bay Rhum

The Semogue boar brush really made short order of the Czech and Speack soap rewarding me with mounds of rich creamy lather. I do not know why I do not use the Czech and Speake soap more often...it is excellent with plenty of protection and glide. I enjoyed a fantastic shave followed by a hearty splash of Meehan Bay Rhum.

Its very good but I would be happier if it had just a little more backbone. I find I'm using my Vie Long horse badger mix more the the NF these days.

I am loving life on the slanted side of the street. Gone are the days of a fourth pass for my neck + a touch-up.

Slanty goes to work and the rest is history. And this is Russian and German stubble, that the fellow German, Slanty is working on...I'd through in a Russian Blade but today was shave three with the Gillette 7 o'clock Black Platinum and I think I will be staying that way for some time. It's luxury!

    Today's Kit:

    EBC Preshave
    Vulfix 404 Mixed
    Gillette 7 o'clock Black
    Merkur 37 C Slant
    Witch Hazel/TSD Bourbon Vanilla
    Pinaud V I Bay Rum

Thanx to all who had nice things to say about the Slant.

Thanx to Gary at Shoe Box shaving for helping me realize the small handle is better for me (though the barber pole is gorgeous) as I tend to choke up.

    Today's Featured Pic:

    Brush: Vie-Long Bombito boar
    Razor: EJ DE89L
    Blade: "Fred's" ASR Personna, 3
    Cream: Musgo
Toner: Thayer's Rose Petal witch hazel
Finish: Malizia Uomo Vetyver with a touch of PREP cream for extra moisture.

Nice shave, but the segue of rose to vetiver was a little odd - might rethink that next time. Happy shaving! :shaver
