hi there guy's, as you've guessed, i'm new to this Forum.... i've been shaving with various DE razors since around 2009, and i've finally moved onto SE razors (and in my opinion the better of the 2) i have a small modest collection of each, but now i'm concentrating on collecting the different types of SE razors, as i now love them so much, my prized possession is my Ever Ready Streamline Razor & Auto -Strop set, i've not wanted to use it yet as it looks so sweet, and possibly only used a handful of times..... now i shave with my Ever Ready 1912, it's just such a sweet shave!! i also have a GEM MMOC & GEM Push Button, and a few Gillettes 4 DE's & 3 Techmatic's, oh i also have a little Double Duck Straight too, which i have shaved with about 5 times, i have 2 Ever Ready Brushes & an Omega boar brush, ok now for a little about me...... i live in the UK, i'm a father to a teenage daughter, and have a great fiance, i am a baker by trade, and i'm quite heavily tattooed, i suffer with Borderline Personality Disorder and a few other things.... and i'm very pro on educating others about mental illnesses, Regards Ad
Welcome aboard. That's a pretty darned sweet ER setup. You can't take it with you and there's not much sense in leaving it for one of your heirs to sell off or throw away. I would use and enjoy it.
Agreed, use it and enjoy it. With that being said... Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
Hi and welcome to the shave den, Im UK based as well, as are a few others. 2 very nice razors there. an injector is the closest ive got to using an SE. SE's are quite low down on my to do list but its there
thank you guy's, yeah i can see what you mean, and i think i will test it out in a few weeks, just the razor tho, i think as the strop has never been used by the look of it,
Welcome to The Den! Those are some nice razors you have there. I have never used a Streamline before, but I hear they are great. I have an autostrop myself and it is one of the two SE razors that I kept around and use fairly regularly. If you happen to get some Feather Blades (SE), I believe they may work in the autostrop you have pictured (given you want to use the razor). My oldest brother is a professional chef (though truth be told, I am a better cook than him...he's just better at substituting ingredients and at timing the prep...but my food tastes WAY better...I just cook for fun though). I might need to ask you a few questions about baking stuff. I just started baking my own bread a few weeks ago (goodbye store-bought) and am looking for some good recipes or tips. But welcome to the forum! I hope you stick around and enjoy yourself here! PS - Your avatar reminds me of Kefka from Final Fantasy 6 (or FF3 in North America)
hey there, welcome, i have to say that is a very nice set you have there. I have never been a big fan of se razors but all the power to you!! thanks for sharing
First, glad to have you here at 'da Den! Second, that Streamline is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.! Very nice. I would not be able to let that go unused at all. It is about the only SE that I don't currently have that I feel I must have one day. Not in any hurry, but eventually there will be one in my den. I hope you use it and can then give a review on it, of course with some more pictures for me to drool over too!
Yeah I was talking about the streamline. I wouldn't mess with the strop, if you are inclined to use the AutoStrop there is a video floating around about how to remove the spine from a modern SE blade to work in one. I've never messed with autostrops, so I can't be of any help there.
I should have mentioned that if you are ever wanting to use the autostrop, and don't want to bother with removing the spines (as mentioned above), just send me a PM and I can send you some Feather SE blades to try out.
Hi Ad, welcome to the Den! Great set of razors you have there. Besides: it's been made to shave. So enjoy it! Happy shaves! Mike
