I am now 22 days into slanted shaving, and I have never enjoyed closer shaves.

It is a well made razor, with a perfect weight and balance.

Razor Head-very well aligned, no issues with changing blades

Handle-Nicely nurled, this puppy is staying put. This is the short handled model. The 39 C is the larger.

Efficiency: different then aggression, this is how well the razor mows through the stubble. This razor is extremely efficient. A solid 9.

Aggression-not overly aggressive at all. The key is in the technique.

Overall this is a wonderful razor that I used for 22 days, mostly with Cella and especially MWF. I always use a preshave as well.

If u want less hair on your face, a Slant might be in your future.

I don't understand the appeal of a slanty, it looks broken to me. What the difference in shave?

It provides a closer shave due to the different angle the blade sits in the razor, at a cost of aggression. I do 2 passes with my slant and get the same result I used to with 3 and my other razors.

I take my time with Slanty, three very easy passes. After the second, I could touch up and call it a day, but the smoooooothness of three gentle passes.

And it is a very easy razor to tame

I was surprised by this as well. After so many reviews of it being a face gouging evil samurai sword, I thought twice as I was ordering it. Then I used it. Love it! Haven't had any issues, just have to keep a healthy respect for what its capable of lopping off ;)

I have the 39C and was hesitant on purchasing it at first due to all the chop talk. When I did use it for the first time, I was very surprised at the quality of shave I received from the sledgehammer. I paid it respect, and in return the slant gave me a BBS in 3 passes.

It has been a while since I've used my Sledgehammer, but all this talk about slants is making me want to go back and use it. I think this week, I will bust it out and give it some love.

I have two slants.....one chrome and one gold plated. Currently the gold one is still in its box unused. Who ever said that I have RAD!!!!!! The slant gives a fantastic shave and treated with respect can be as easy to use as the 34C. My tendency towards sharp blades means that I would seldom have more than 3 consecutive shaves with it. I would never part with them. The slant is a classic and unique razor

Alright, fellas. This morning I busted out the sledgehammer. I had to shave quickly because I forgot to set the alarm after the power went out yesterday, so I woke up a bit late. I was a little nervous to rush it, but I am pretty confident in my technique after doing this for a year now and I have to say that the sledge was up to the task of whipping through a shave quickly and without any problems at all. I used an Arko stick and made my first pass quickly and thoroughly and to be honest I could have gotten away with that single pass, but chose to go ahead with another. Ended with a DFS, no nicks, no cuts, no irritation- nothing. It was great and done in record time. I think I need to use this thing more often as it was a total delight. Thanks for reminding me that I have a great shaver sitting there in my medicine cabinet.

My 37C ruined me. It has made me lose my desire to use any other razor for the time being. Hmmm....this could be to my benefit though if it kills my RAD...

    Justin,

How are you loading blades in your slant to be sure the blade edge is even across the guard bar? I came up with a way that works pretty well just wondering what others are doing.

I set the head down on the counter, "drop" the blade on, and tighten it upside down to what I would a "normal" razor. Seems to work 100% of the time for me. Just in case though, I still give it a visual inspection after.

I've been putting the blade on the cap then slide the head on the handle right-side up without tightening. Then I pinch the head and blade bed together with my fingers making sure the blade is straight then tighten the handle. It doesn't work the first time every time. Sometimes I have to do it again.

The way it's made, there's some play in the head so I do this to keep the head from moving while I tighten it. I've never tried it upside down. I'm guessing that's how you keep the head steady with the blade on it?
