I just tried MWF. And I love it. 5 out of 5 blades for this one. Amazing smell. Luscious lather. Excellent soap. I will never go back to Williams or VDH.
Thanks, Steve. I really enjoy myself here. Everybody is so kind and helpful. BTW, today I face loaded my MWF by rubbing the puck over my face the way you would a stick. I get great results using this method. I still brush load for just a few seconds because I don't like starting out with a "dry" brush. For folks who may have a little trouble getting MWF to lather because of a floppy brush, hard water, etc., maybe try this and see if it helps?
I find MWF to be a strange soap for me. It has given me some of my best shaves (near BBS), but it was hard to work with. First, where I shave, the residue dries really quickly, and my technique is to overlap slightly with each stroke. The result is some tugging and later skin irritation. If I take my time, and watch each stroke (no overlap) and re-lather often, it is great. Also post-shave skin quality is great!
Doesn't sound like you're lathering it right, MWF is probably the only tallow soap I have that has never dried on my face ever. Try using more water and spending more time swirling on the puck, you should have a very creamy hydrated lather, that is neither overly thick, or watery thin, or dry.
I've been using MWF inn both stick and puck form for a while.. I grated half a puck and pressed it into a clean travel size twist-up stick deodorant container. Works awesome. I have a number of other sticks converted to this twist-up container style as well..
