Saturday - it's the weekend! :happy069:Time for the SEs.

Prep: 30 minute marinade with TSD ISZ PSB, strop str8, hot shower
CD: Blues Gold, disc 2 ~ various later artists
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Ethiopia Illubabor, BLACK
    Strop: VB 2" black latigo/linen
    Soap: L'Occitane Cade
Brush: 24mm silvertip set in red mallee burl
    Str8: J R Torrey, 3 passes
SE: Schick Injector E model, touch up
Post: Cold water rinse, RazoRock rubdown, cold water rinse #2, Cool Mist, B&BW Noir

    Shave Rating: 3 blades

Should have taken the Torrey to the hone. Not bad, but could feel the burn afterwards from trying to make a slightly dull edge work.

    Saturday

    Gillette FB @8
    Derby day 3
    Vulfix best badger travel brush
    Palmolive Menthol shaving cream
    TSD Iced Eucalyptus Witch Hazel
    Proraso splash

Remarkable days we have right now. Yesterday it started to snow, which resulted in a traffic jam totaling almost 800 km at its peak. In a country just a little bit bigger than Maryland. Friday was followed by a night with -23 Celsius, making it already the coldest February since 1956. How many reasons one has to have to make it Menthol Saturday?
Because the sun was shining so nicely I took my Mentholated shaving goodies outside to make a picture in their natural iced habitat.
And then I went for the ultimate shave, cranked the FB up to 8, took my time and had a really great shave. The level of BBS on my cheeks was almost scary. It is 8 hours since I shaved and it still feels like a DFS on any other day right after shaving. Amazing.

    Saturday, weekend, Rolls Razor time!

    Setup:
    • Prep: hot water, hot washing cloth
    • Music: Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells (the original from the seventies this time)
    • Brush: WS badger/boar
    • Soap: TSD Signature
    • Razor: Rolls
    • Since there were not many whiskers yet (BBS yesterday) straight to ATG. Shouldn't have done that... Shouldn't have done that...
    • Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse, TSD Witch Hazel
Nice close shave, almost BBS, but some razor burn along the throat. Meh. Better next time.

    Prep: Hot shower
    Soap/cream: VDH Deluxe
    Brush: Omega 10066
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable I-2 birth year/quarter, (5)
Blade: Lord Platinum (7) hand stropped
    Cold water rinse
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Superior 70 Bay Rum

Haven't used the VDH soap in a really long time, just been trying too many others!
It probably deserves a little spot in everyone's den - under appreciated in my view.
The Lord Platinum gave me seven days of service, and while it could still could go
another day or two, I'll swap it out. Ironically, it seems to work better in my Slim than
    my Lord L6 razor...

    Привет, Джефф в Монреаль! ;)

oddly enough VDH is my favorite soap. inexpensive, readily availiable at wally-world. I buy two 2.5 oz. pucks at a time and melt them down into my burmashave mug. 5 oz puck of soap for a little over $3. And imo it provides an excellent shave and smells great.

Old bowling ball...that's great! I'll bet the desnsity of the material gives the handle a great feel. The knot size and loft height are my sweet spot too. Thanks for Beejay's info. Hey, did you just enable me?:happy097:

    Saturday

    Twinplex Sales Co 5/8
    Altesse badger
    Pacific Natural shave cream
    Master Bay Rum
    Drakkar Noir EDT

I haven't used the 5/8 in awhile, but it gave me a pretty decent shave. I still prefer my 6/8 razors. The Pacific Natural shave cream delivers a wonderful lather while using very little cream.

Well Lignum Vitae is so dense it actually is one of the only woods that will sink in water, it also is naturally rich in oils, so making it very good for using when making shaving brushes, and the brush and knot proved to be so good in use, that I had another model made diifferent model but with the same knot by Bill, during the turn of the century Lignum Vitae was most used in the same way engineers would use metal today, mostly found in heavy industry ship yards so on making pully blocks lifting gear and many uses you would come to expect from this incredibly hard wood.

    Regards Jamie.

    Personna Lab Prep

What a shave! I am trying out one of the lab prep blades from Savages PIF. It had 3 days of hair to cut through but did a great job! The shave went really smooth! Also I happily welcomed the Proraso after a few nights of little sleep. I can honestly say I feel refreshed with this 5 star DFS! This day is turning out great! A great shave that will be complimented with a great opera debut tonight! :)
