Well I think the blade is done. Second shave with it today...but the first one was with a few days growth and that usually ends a blades life quickly. I did a 2 pass and have some irritation. I was excited to try the Arko, I think it smells great! Like I said it was a rough shave but welcome all the same.

This is the first De Vergulde Hand that I have used, but I must say that I am impressed. Especially for a non tallow soap it performs great. I would put it at the top of my rotation along with the Tabac and Arko.

Felt like a straight razor day. Just got back some razors I had Glen hone, and was ready to take this pretty lady for a spin.

    Just 3 pieces here. ;)
    1. Torry with covered pearl tang (yeah....I gotta get a pic)
    2. DVH boar brush (Thanks, Mike!)
    3. TSD Sweet Tea Wheat shaving cream

Kinda wish I'd had Glen put new scales on this straight. Don't know if the ones on there are original but they don't go well with the pearl tang, IMO. (I have to get a pic now)

I always feel a bit ornery in my opinions of shaving products, but.......out of the 3 new brushes I've gotten recently, this DVH boar is my favorite. The other 2, you ask? A Shea Moisture (aka The Dridecker), and a Vulfix 404 boar/badger mix.

I never thought I could like another Gillette cream again, but this Gillette Menthol cream from France is awesome. It has a nice scent with rich, creamy lather and a very strong cooling effect. The Gillette Pro Series balsam soothes, moisturizes and cools the skin very well. I had a terrific shave this morning! ;) :D

    Tuesday 7th February

Facial scrub and Proraso Preshave cream
    C.Freider.Schmidt Revisor 4/8 Razor
    New Forest Tubby 1
    Lavenda Shave Cream
Alum Block followed by 444 ASB
    Swiss Pitralon

This was my pre night duty shave, and the first time I have ever used a 4/8 razor. A three pass shave gave a BBS. A little more care was required to compensate for the smaller blade. The Lavenda I used was the older formulation and very pleasant. Can anyone tell me how the newer recipe compares?

    Prep:Hot shower,soak brush (Semogue 620)
    Proraso PrePost creme
Mama Bear's Rosemary Mint shave stick
    Face:Weber SS/Astra SP (2)
    Head:Feather AS-D1/Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (3)
    Cold Water Rinse
    Alum(clean brush,razors,police area)
    Cold Water rinse
    Floid Blue mixed with 444

I normally would headshave with whatever DE I'm using, but sadly last Thursday I got my first headweepers of the 2012 shaving season. The culprit was Weber SS/Astra SP and pilot error.I had a great face shave but got cocky with my head,it was my first time with the Weber and Astra combo. Now it wasn't my first time with either the razor or Astra's but the Astra seemed to be sharper than a Feather in that razor. The lession learned, always be careful when using a new combo, regardless of how long you've been shaving.
