Simple face gel wash Razor Taylors Witness 1000 Brush Le Tuft Le Une grande Vulfix Persian Musk Alum + witch Hazel TOBS Sandalwood Balm gel Botanics Moisturiser SPF 15 L'Occitane Cedre L'Atlas eau De Parfum. Jamie. Very Nice shave from the Taylors 1000, but the difference from this traditional razor from the Feather straight is like a Golf GTI compared to a fomular 1 car, it's never even going to challenge, you notice it a lot more when you last shaved with the feather, then you next shave is with a traditional straight.
I LEFT MY BRUSH AT HOME &#@! Gillette Bostonian Bic Blade Brush-I wish Cream-Health Club Provided Gooooo Speick AS Lotion Lab Series AS Balm Music-Wynonie Harris -haven't shaved with goo for over 2 years. It was quite awful. It really felt like metal touching my face which I have not experienced in a long time if ever. Managed a DFS but not a comfortable one. This certainly makes me appreciate all of the creams/soaps/sticks I have. I hope to never make this mistake again. I had DR Arlington Stick and almost just rubbed it on my face for extra cushion.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 - GEMruary! Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar Coffee: Locally roasted Panamanian w/ cream Lather: De Vergulde Hand "Extra fris" - face lather Brush: Vie-Long 13061 Horsehair Razor: Gem OCMM Blade: TP Gem PTFE (5); 3 passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum Happy GEMruary! A month of the Gems with the 27th being the centennial of the 1912 patent. What a wonderful shave this morning. The DVH "Extra fris" is excellent. It lathers just as well as the original, just with a slightly different scent. I'm very pleased to have been able to get one of these (thanks Macaronus and JoAnna!). Another new item today is the Krampert's Finest Bay Rum. This was gifted to me by a friend on another forum and it is fantastic. Excellent repair and moisturizing which I've never had from a bay rum before. I didn't even need my post shave moisturizer. My skin feels super soft and smooth with zero irritation. Shave Rating - Splendidly Sublime! Another Single Blader! God Bless!

Wednesday Since today is my Gillette Old Type's turn I took a vintage blade. I honed and stropped it in my Allegro type L (8 x on the black stone, 8 x on the green one and 32 x strops on the leather side). So the setup: Prep: hot water rinse, hot washng cloth Music: Philip Glass, Dancepieces Brush: WS boar / badger Soap: TSD signature Bowl lathering in Tabac mug Razor: Gilette Old Type Blade: brandless vintage (Best Safety Razor / Made In Germany) 4(!) pass shave + touch-up Result: eventually DFS, but pity it needed a 4 pass shave. Perhaps some more honing and stroping ?
Wednesday's Shower and Shave A long hot shower to undo the stiffness. The LuJin Badger was on chosen to do this mornings honor of lathering.Mystery puck of soap, it lathered beautifully and it was slick. A Gillette fat handled Tech loaded with a Super Max for it's third shave today. Soap, razor, blade combo produced a great shave. Three passes then a polar water splashes. Toned the face Thayer's Witch Hazel. After that a brisk splash of Ogalla Bay Rum. The :wave:rated this near BBS DFS a sterling 10. I hope everyone is having a great week.
Wednesday 8th February Hot shower and Facial scrub Proraso Pre shave cream Kai Captain Excelia (japanese Style) Semogue SOC Boar Monsavon Soap Witchazel and 444 ASB Aqua Velva AS A nice long relaxing shave after my night duty recovery. BBS with two passes an a little touch up. As Jamie mentioned above...traditional straights are very satisfying to use...but the Kai/Feather Systems are an absolute pleasure.
Wednesday: Brush: Semogue 830 banded boar Razor: Merkur 41C open-comb Blade: Dorko ST301 - 1, w/ trimmed Feather as a shim Prep: Jock Soap pre-shave oil Cream: Jock Soap Shore Leave cream with a mild sandalwood type scent Toner: Thayer's Rose Petal Finish: Ogallala Bay Rum, Lime & Peppercorns Wonderfully smooth and perfect shave. While the 41C doesn't seem to get quite as close as my EJ DE89L or Gillette adjustable razors, I still get a DFS every time and I've yet to have an ingrown from betting too close.
