Saturday 11th February Hot Shower and Velelro Preshave scrub Proraso Preshave cream Gold Dollar 208 6/8 razor Semogue 830 Boar Brush Lavanda Shave Cream Witch Hazel followed by 444 ASB Selin Lemon Cologne. Nic (aka Jeltz) had kindly offered to hone a Gold Dollar for me.....as the first step in my journey to being able to hone my own. The razor arrived yesterday, and today was the first time I used it. I was absolutely flabbergasted! Nic took a cheap (scorned by many) razor, and turned it into a shaving tool with attitude. The edge was just sooooo smooth and sharp. This shave was undoubtedly the best traditional straight shave I have ever had. I was enjoying it so much I just slowed down and ended up BBS in three passes. The gauntlet has been thrown and I hope that someday I will come somewhere close!
Saturday, February 11, 2012 Prep: Hot shower Soap/cream: Portman Square English Style Cream - Tropical Coconut Brush: Ever-Ready C40 Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable I-2 birth year/quarter, (5) Blade: Derby (7) Cold water rinse Dickinson's Witch Hazel Superior 70 Bay Rum Today was my second shave of the sample of Portman Square English Style Cream I received from Phil @ BullGoose. I waited until today to give it a real workout, a Derby on day seven! Again, the "croap" doesn't copious amounts of lather, but its slickness really shines. I face lathered using my softest brush, an old Ever-Ready I got at a Serendipity show a while back. I like the Tropical Coconut scent really well - you can smell it nicely during the shave, but then it fades so as not to clash with your balm or aftershave splashes. Rinses well, off of your face and razor. Good shave today, considering the soap had to work against a 7 day old Derby! I like Derby's, but for me they seem better in my Lord L6 than my Slim. 60% BBS, 40% DFS

Very nice, it used to be my daily shaver until I picked up a Lord L6, but the Clix is a mild shaver and not for everyone. Shave Of The Day ~ February 11th Hot Shower Vulfix 404 Badger/Boar Mix Brush Georgetown Scuttle Institut Karite Shave Cream Clix 3 Piece Razor Voskhod Blade ~ Day 2 Thayers Witch Hazel/Osage Rub Blend Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue ~
Today was shave five on a Gillette 7 o'clock yellow, generally my last shave. I applied my preshave, took a hot shower with MWF bath soap, and prepared to shave. EBC preshave Vulfix 404 Mixed JM Fraser Polar Ice Merkur 11 C Gillette Yellow Humphreys Witch Hazel/Vitos Alcolado Glacial I had a great shave today. After a morning of errands followed by sweeping and mopping, the shower beckoned. And then the shave. Every stroke was smooth, and the shave was great. A nice shave and time for a new blade.
Late and relaxing shave on this gray and slightly snowy Saturday: Brush: Omega 21047 mixed badger/boar - FINALLY got this little beast to break! Razor: Merkur 41C open-comb "1904" Blade: Dorco ST301, 3 w/ trimmed Feather as a shim - shim is holding nicely, no rust. Soap: Prairie Creations Lime w/ lanolin Toner: Thayer's Rose Petal WH Finish: Speick AS splash with a little Prep pre/post cream for moisture Smelly: Royalle Lyme Ahhhh! Really nice and refreshing shave and I just love the layered smells of all of this together. With another vinegar soak and some moderate swirls on 120 grit sand paper, I was finally able to get the tips of this Omega soft enough to use. Before, it was just brutal, now it's nice and soft once soaked it lathers beautifully. I know, pretty extreme but it was either this or sell it. As much as I love all my other razors, it's been really hard to leave my Merkur. I suppose I should change it out once the Dorco is done, but who knows... Happy Shaving!
Saturday Razor: JM Schmid & Son 6/8 Brush: Altesse badger Soap: Institut Karite Toner--A/S: Master Bay Rum EDT: Drakkar Noir Back to the straight razors! Very good shave today. The spots I'd been having trouble getting earlier in the week because of dry patches in my skin are gone and still smooth almost 9 hours after my shave!
