You shouldn't feel too bad about that though...My grandpa is from the north of England (he's a Johnston) and gre up speaking Geordie with a THICK and HARSH Scottish accent...well he still does (sounds like a deep husky/rough mumble when he talks). He lived not to far from us when I was growing up, and we were always over at his place. And you know, I don't think I could understand a word he spoke until I was about 14 or 15 years old . I still have a hard time with some words he says, because it isn't an english dialect found in our part of the world.

Great shave today. The Push Button is a cream-puff of a shaver though. I will ramp up my challenge tomorrow, with my OCMM.

How do you like the I1 Johnny? My grandfather's injector is an I1 and I really like the shaves it gives. I recently picked up an E2 from the BAWX and I'll be trying it out once I'm done testing a few DEs.

Brian, I really like it. Just a little milder than my G1 or I2. Give a very close, smooth, comfortable three pass shave.

 

LOL. You're right! Handling an injector just feels natural and "the way it should be". A very satisfying shave. I've been reading a lot lately on injectors so I can identify them in the wild. I now have a good reason to post in the Inj. and SE thread.

 

Wednesday

I liked yesterday's set-up and shave so much I decided this morning to do a replay!

• Prep: hot water splash, hot washing cloth
• Music: Paul Simon, Graceland
• Brush: old DVH boar
• Soap: DVH, face lathered
• Razor: Gillette Flare Tip Rocket
• Blade: Derby, 4th shave
• 3-pass + touch-up
• Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse

I had the brush loaded with a bit too little soap, so I had to reload it for the 3rd pass. But it is really nice and soft to handle! The Gillette Flare tip Rocket keeps amazing me. The easy way how she mows through the hairs. Effortlessly. And again a wonderful DFS ++! Very close to BBS today. Weehee!

Wednesday's Shower and Shave
Hot shower with Razorock Ginseng. I have been using Razorock bar soap for a couple weeks, it lathers up nicely in the shower. I am not impressed with how it moisturizes.
Parker Badger was next in the brush line-up. Going along with the theme week MWF was the soap for the day.
Gillette Fat Boy with the a Persona Red.
Post shave routine polar water splash, Thayer's Witchhazel, Colonia to finish the shave.

Alum block followed by Three Crowns Rosewater AS milk
Agua de Colonia Rosa Cologne

And so continues my voyage of re/discovery. The Shavemac used to be one of my favourite brushes for hard soaps. It did not fail to deliver this time either. SBAD can be a terrible thing. Sometimes it makes you forget about what you already have. I also decided to try a shavette. The first time I did this a number of years ago....I rapidly lost interest due to blood loss!. The balance was terrible compared to my Feathers and traditional straights.....but I managed a three pass BBS. I regularly fly over to Ireland to visit my family, so one of these would definitely be an option for leaving over there. DE blades are easy to get...so sharp edges would not be an issue. I am enjoying this MWF week as restricting my soap has led me to experiment elsewhere!

 

I have an Injector Type G from the 40's that my grandfather gave to me, I use it as my travel razor and that's what I started with. They do give an effortless shave don't they? It's kind of amazing that the cut and sharpness of the blade works so well for such a broad # of shavers.

Results: nice shave, felt a little rushed and didn't get as smooth as I would have liked.

OH well, there is always tomorrow.
