The Haul: March 26th - April 1st, 2012

I bought a lot of stuff this month, but I'll only post my best.

 

Picked up two str8s, one W&B pre arrow stamp and a Blue Ring, and was gifted an H1 Slim Adjustable.

 

I got my two pucks of Provence Santa Green Tea shaving soap from West Coast Barbers. At least I think it's Green Tea. That' what I ordered, but there's nothing on the package that says that.

 

AWESOME! I'm an SR shave fan. Love the Blue Steel. It's kinda Dubl Duck Goldedge'ish.

 

My wife woke me up today by throwing two packages at me and these were in them

Had to bury a friend this morning, and down the block from the cemetary was a garage sale.

No pics yet, but found a nice Frederick Reynolds 13/16" wedge wearing blonde horn in a double coffin all for the princely sum of $10.

Man, that sucks, but unfortunate part of life. Sorry to hear about it.

 

Another package arrived for me today, been a good week for creams. Have a few more variety tubes of Arko en route from Turkey but these were from Shoebox. Both scents are blissful, Arko is a little more subdued though.

 

Found the elusive and beautiful nickel-plated Toggle in pristine condition. Very nice & very happy with this acquisition.

 

Hubba, Hubba and three eighths Jake! That is absolutely gorgeous!

Yes, like out of a time machine -- and I still remember the year -- 1960 -- even though I hardly had one of these then. And why did Gillette abandon this design after such a short run? I wonder how many they actually manufactured? Or what the selling price was in 1960.

 

I think what you have there is a 1964 Slim adjustable. I believe the Super Slims were made in the late seventies and had the slightly thicker, longer black handle. I just picked up a second one myself. They are good shavers. I've never gotten my neck perfect with it though, always a bit of irritation. BBS, but not 100% comfortable.
