You should learn to get great shave on every setting....I love the shaves on every setting on mine...You compensate with the angle of the razor...Let your ear guide you...The lower settings are the most challenging, but also very rewarding with absolutely irritation free shaves...Just make sure to not use pressure...even on #'s 2, or 1.....Just a steeper angle, sharp blade, and maybe a little skin stretching...

I think you should be able to start with either #3 or #4...if you can't get a GREAT shave there your technique needs work...Then progress in each direction one number at a time til you are getting great shaves at each setting...At first I was in a rush to get to #9...#9 is easy...just a very light touch...It's #1 or #2 that separates the men from the boys technique wise...On #1, use a sharp blade, and steep angle...Hold the head flat to your cheek, and handle parrallel to the floor and slowly lower the handle til you hear it cutting hairs....Still don't use any pressure, maybe a little skin streching, nothing excessive...Just hold skin taught....And you will probably need an extra pass + touch-up...put the effortless BBS is there...You just have to find it...:)

When you can get a great shave on any of the settings...Then you can get a great shave from just about any quality razor...given all other factors are equal...blade, lather, prep...etc.

Main thing...have fun....you'll be getting great shaves and having fun in the process....;)

Oh man, It was pure heaven! And the massage that went with it afterwords. If I could afford it everyday, I would quit shaving lol.

    Jamie.

Simple perfect BBS shave one pass with minor clean up, i would also say this is the sixth shave with the Feather Pro blade, and it shows no signs of slowing up sharpness wise, if these were the Feather light i'm affraid that they would have given up the ghost after 4 shaves.

Same lather technique as yesterday. Moisten puck, prep chin, few wisks with brush on puck, puck rubbing puck on chin. Great lather again! Comfy shave lead to DFS++! :happy108:

So this way of lathering works out great (for me at least, YMMV). But if the puck is in a bowl, I prefer to load the brush over there. The vintage Williams puck and the TSD Bay Rum puck (it was a refill puck) will be used with the face-rubbing technique. And the DVH shave stick of course! :)

    Happy Easter weekend!

The more I use this Lea Menthol cream, the more I think it's getting closer and closer to becoming my favorite. I enjoyed the shave so much from start to finish. The scent of this cream is so lovely and intoxicating, and the lather is such a pleasure to work with. The Visal gel is ice-cold and soothes sensitive skin, so that it feels born again! ;) :D

Thanks for the advice. Technique, technique, technique...and fun :D Will use your system to master every setting.
Left it on #5 yesterday, used a fresh Astra SP blade and Irisch Moos resulting in a DFS.
Today was the same set up and results were outstanding. BBS :happy036: I really like the way I can buff with this razor.

Way better shave than yesterday,I did a 2 pass,WTG,ATG on my face and 1 ATG on Thunderdome,BBS,no touch-ups needed. For headshaves I now have 2 favorites, the 39c and a OCMM,with the 39c being the smoother of the 2.When I head shave with these 2, I rarely need to do touch-ups and always get a nice close shave.
