Good news and bad news. The good news is I'm really getting comfortable with the Tech and had my closest shave with it yet. The other good news is that the Ladas, which were just passable in my 38M, seem to work pretty well in my Tech. More testing is needed, of course, but I could barely feel this blade. That's a good thing because I have nearly 300 of these.

The bad news is I found out that I'm allergic to something in the TOBS Sandalwood. My face started heating up with the first pass. I stuck it out for two passes then threw in the towel and whipped up some more MW LotV for the third pass. The MW actually seemed to calm my skin a bit. This was the first time I had used TOBS since late January. I looked back at my notes and sure enough...I had this sensation when using TOBS before, but in the two cases I have notes for, I had attributed it to razor burn. I'm now confident it's the EOs or FOs in the soap. When I was all done, it looked like I had sunburn on my face. That really sucks because I love the smell and performance of this soap. I guess I'll have to trade or sell the two pucks I have.

Wow Nick, you must have gotten an exceptional pack of Personna blades. Best I've done with the Personna blades is 5 good shaves. I usually get 7 good shaves from the Chinese made Schick blades.

Lloyd, I cannot stretch my skin because if I told you what kind of unbearable pain I get if I try to, you would freak out. Even to hold my skin taut is very painful.

Yeah....Buffing with the Slim is great...
    Hey man...Thanks a beautiful Slim...
Are you familier with the Slim James Bond conection...?
If not...He uses it in the bathroom on Goldfinger's private Jet...He had a small 'homing' signal device hidden in the handle...He takes it out, activates it and puts it in the heel of his shoe...He then proceeds to shave...As they exit the plane, Pussy Galore rubs the barrel of her S&W 45ACP revolver on his chin and says, "You like a 'close shave' don't you Mr. Bond?"...
Man Gillette couldn't pay for such a great plug...lol
Heres a couple photos from that scene...Don't try this at home...our TTO knobs don't come off like that...lol

A great shave to end the work week. I have a new appreciation for these mild Techs after using them all week, as long as they're loaded with an Astra SP. YMMV

I didn't have the best experience with the Astra SP in my 38M, but with the way the Tech improved my experience with the Ladas, I'll have to try an Astra in there next. I may extend my Tech Week experience into next week just to try that out. I still want to try that and a Voskhod in there.

    06/04/2012, Friday's Shower and Shave
I missed being here this week, the computer decided to get sick. Hats off to the techs at AT&T for their help.

Long hot shower is the best way to start the day, a bar of soap from Amber makes it even greater.

I am real enjoy the facial glycerin bar by Proraso, for prepping the face for the shave.
I am been using two different Techs all week, one has custom handle, the other is a gold ball end Tech.
Today's Tech was the black handled one loaded with an Astra blade
Today's brush was the newest member of my Den the Semogue 1460. It is breaking in very nicely and softening up real great too.
Soap today was a sample of the newest soap by Gingers Garden, vanilla and mint. The scent is great, a cooling effect too. I will post my impressions in the soap forum.
Three passes, cold water splash, RazoRock Alum, Thayer's Witchhazel. To finish a great DFS a splash of Pinaud Veg Lilac.

    Johnny,

I picked up 4 of these Personna Platinum Chrome Injector Dispensers on eBay. They're dated 1998. The blades are pretty darn good, but the plastic dispensers are lousy.

The Chinese Schick blades are just as good as the the Personnas, and the metal dispensers are much better. I get them in Oregon at Bi-Mart, $6.99 for 7 blades. They may be available in your area at CVS, etc.
