For those of you that shave everyday or every other day, how many passes do you do? I've found that my skin gets irritated if I do more than one if I don't have much growth. Will my skin eventually adapt or am I better off sticking with one pass.
2-3 passes on a daily basis - but I'm old. Back in the day, I limited it to 1+ (with grain + some "buffing") when my skin was ready willing and able to re-gen quickly.
Two passes. One North to South and the other South to North. It's about all I do if I shave daily or go a week between shaves.
One pass plus touch-ups around the corners of the jaw. More than that and I get some ugly irritation. I find using an aggressive razor helps. My go to is a Gillette NEW with an aftermarket heavy handle. Lately I've been alternating this with an open comb M.P. r89, which is a re-branded Fatip razor.
Three passes (WTG, XTG, ATG) and a touch up, every shave, every day of the week. Yeah. For me shaving has become a "Get to," not a "Have to."
I really make no rules about this. It all depends on how my face feels on any given day. I would guess that I average around 3 passes per shave though. - Mark
Three passes daily. And like Steve: I get to shave, but don't have to. Perhaps a change of blade or razor might help. And no pressure hels as well. There was a post about pressure & razor burn, not long ago, but I can't remember which post or by whom it was...
I shave every day, with the rare skipping of Saturday. It's something I enjoy so I do it as much as I can. I do a 3 pass (N-S, S-N, and then outside my face towards the inside which is ATG for me.) I'm only into this about 2 months but each shave seems better than the previous. I don't know that my skin has adjusted, but I think my technique has. This is where I would say that Cold Water Shaving has greatly reduced the irritation I was getting on my neck. Maybe it's worth a shot?
3 passes every day, I look like a clochard when I skip a day On the serious side: over time your technique will improve. Too often irritation is connected to sensitive skin in stead of technique issues. For exame: when I started DE shaving some 5 years ago (after several decades of cartridge shaving) Feather blades gave me irritation. So I didn't use them anymore. But now they are my favourite blades. Did my skin change (apart from getting 5 years older)? Don't think so, but my technique improved a lot.
here's a current thread. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/cold-water-shaving.27918/ hope that helps
During winter I shave once in 2 days. In summer I have everyday, and I do 2 passes always, with the grain and against.
Two passes and a touch up here. I was doing three but just don't want to take the additional time most mornings. I still do three most weekends, however.
I usually shave every day. Current routine is three passes and touch-up: WTG, two XTG's with touch-up on lower neck and lower part of upper lip.
3 passes every day. WTG, XTG and ATG. I like the BBS feeling. If I skip a day I look and feel like Grizzly Adams. However everybody is different.
