I like to fool around with pics when I've got the time. Photoshop & The Gimp have some pretty neat filters and effects. It also helps to cover up the crappy quality of the camera in my cellphone...
Friday's Zen shave Prep: hot water splash, hot washing cloth, olive oil marinade while lathering Music: Easy Japanese Cookbook, Traditional Japanese music Brush: Wilkinson Sword badger / boar Soap: DVH "extra Fris" (bowl lathered) Razor: British Gillette flare tip Rocket Blade: Merkur (6th? shave) Shave: 3-pass + touch-up DFS++ (it would have been a BBS but for a few patches which I missed. D'OH!) The olive oil marinade is very nice. No burn whatsoever, smooth shaving, smooth skin and a daily BBS (or very close to)! Perhaps I'll try some other oils. Sesame seed oil, grape seed oil, rice oil. I'll have to dive in SWMBO's kitchen cupboard to try 'em one by one.
The TOBS Lavender SC is a gift for SWMBO but since she is out of town on business I thought I would give it a spin. Good product but the scent isn't for me.
Ah, of course! baby oil! For that ultra BBS feeling! Haven't got that in the house at the moment, as my girls are fifteen and seventeen. I don't have to clean their bums anymore! But a great idea none the less, fishcrow! I remember it always felt and smelled nice!

Just finished a 5-pack of Voskhod blades. Not the best blade for me, but I've found that paired with my Merkur HDs I get the best shaves from 'em.
Friday Shave with the son: Hot Towel Burt's Bees shving cream as pre shave Hot towel TOOBS Sandalwood shaving cream Clubman badger brush Becker Scuttle Schick G6 w/ Schick blade 2nd shave Cold rinse Alum block Nivea AS Balm Old Spice Classic AS Clubman Talc The shaving cream for the entire shave was whipped up by my six year-old son. As many of you have seen and read before he shaves with me on weekend visits. I have bragged that he can make a good batch of lather. Well here is the pics of what a a young man of 6 can do by himself.
Thanks Randy! I'm just glad that he shows the enthusiasm towards shaving. I just remember the days I spent along side my grandfather. It is what I remember most. The smell of Williams Mug Soap and Old Spice AS takes me back every time. Hopefully one day he won't be able to pick up a razor without thinking back of our days shaving together. See how strong of bond our hobby can make sights, smells from generation to generation and so on...
That scent is quite amazing isnt it?! I love it! As soon as I got it in the mail I opened and took a whiff and quickly went to shave! My wifey showed me her love for the scent too
