Man I've really got to get back on the ball with my SOTD posts! This shaving every day thing has turned OCD but my posting has been lacking. Saturday, April 21, 2012 Prep: Hot shower while the brush took a hot bath in the sink. Pre: Proraso pre shave Razor: Gillette Flare tip SS Blade: Shark super chrome(day1) Soap: Proraso green (face lathered as always....hint hint to Johnny) Post: cold water rinse followed up with some Proraso ASB 2 pass DFS to start off the day!
Saturday 21 April Didn't get to shave yesterday due to an early morning call in, I was very disapointed. I was supposed to go back in around midnight, but when I called in they were way behind, so I went back to sleep. That was nice. A poor mans vacation, another eight hours of sleep. Today is a different matter entirely. Starbucks Italian Roast Coffee, Black Arko Stick Omega boar travel brush, face lather EJ89, with Gillette 7O'Clock super platinum black Alcolado Glacial, and Arko Cool ASB This was a three pass DFS+. Probably could have done a little better on the jawline if I wanted to do a little buffing, but I opted for another cup of coffee instead. Very nice shave though. The EJ89 and the Gillette 7O'Clock blades seem to work very well togther. The alcolado glacial was a nice chilly finish to the shave. The arko cool is not really chilly, but it does a nice job with a good scent. I think I will give the arko aqua a try, this has been good for a travelling selection. Coffee was a little week this morning, not my best effort there, but way better than hotel coffee. Another from the hotel bathroom series, this job keeps going on forever.
Saturday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/Rapira day 6 Gada Cool Mint SC Visal AS Gel Obsession for Men EDT Although this Rapira blade is showing signs of dullness after 6 days, it still gave me a very smooth and comfortable shave. As always, the Gada Cool Mint cream delivered the nice scent, super-rich lather, frigid menthol, and great skincare. I love the Visal gel - it's another wonderful face-freezer!
Saturday, April 21 65’ Gillette Slim (setting 7) Supermax Super Platinum (d3) Preshave Oil Blend + M-Bomb L'Occitane Cade, Tweezerman Osage Rub, Dominica Bay Rum Result: BBS (yea, the faceterbating kind).
First DE shave in a long time. Merkur 1904, Merkur SS blade and T.O.B.S. Lavender soap. I must admit, it was a very nice shave. I'm also looking forward to using a couple of Schicks that are in the mail. One's a Hydro the other I'll figure out once it gets here. I've never had many DE, two actually. A Fat Boy that I picked up when I was in the service and my Dad's old Gillette that he was issued during WWII. Back in the day I use to have a few Schicks that I remember liking, unfortunately they're long gone.
Saturday: Soak Brush/Semogue SOC Boar Bristle Hot Shower Proraso PrePost cream D.B. Original Scuttle Trumper's Sandalwood shave cream Merkur 39c (The Hammer) / Voskhod (1) Cold Water Rinse Monster Block Alum (clean up hardware and software, police area) Cold Water Rinse Robert's Rose Water followed by D.R. Harris Sandalwood splash followed 20 minutes later with Feather Kanwa Somehow I got a nice scratch on the right side of my neck during the night,my cat may be the culprit.Usually he'll swish his tail back and forth across my face to wake me up for his breakfast. If that gets no response,he jumps on my pillow,if that don't work he'll accidently on purpose jump on my face.He wont go near SWMBO's side of the bed.Anyways I didn't notice until I was lathering up,so I just did a 2 pass face shave and my normal 1 pass head.I got a nice BBS face and head, and DFS on my neck.

Saturday: Barbasol Prep Dovo Natural The Dridecker Maca Root Alum Block Aqua Velva Afta Original Clubman Bay Rum
April 20th Wash: Nivea Face Wash Razor: Merkur 38M Brush: Vulfix 660S Super Badger Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel (3) Soap/Cream: Mystic Water - Lily of the Valley SS Post: 5Savages After Shave (witch hazel, rum, Tabac cologne) AS: Aubrey Organics - City Rhythms AS DFS+ 3rd and last shaving on the Rapira Swede. It was also the best one. Was it because of the awesome shaving qualities of the Mystic Water SS? I guess I'll find out tonight when I use it again. If all the shaves with the Rapira Swedes were like this I'd be pretty excited about it. It wasn't BBS, but it was close, and there was no irritation and the razor glided across my skin for the most part. My wife is out of town so I get to use all the stuff she doesn't care for, like the City Rhythms AS and today it will be Burberry London edC.
Early Saturday shave, was up and at 'em at 0430! Hot Shower Green Marvy Mug Omega Scarlatti TSD Angel Type Wheat SC Lady Eversharp - Turquoise Schick (2) Cool Water Rinse TSD Angel Type ASM Fantastic shave today, I don't use the Eversharps enough. Have a great rest of your weekend, I have to head back out to the donor floor and finish out my workday!
Which Rapira? I just tossed a Swedish Supersteel after 3 days, but the thing is, it was getting better with each shave so I should have kept using it, but I didn't think about it until it was too late.
Saturday 21st April Hot shower and Facial Scrub 3P Pre/Post cream Ikon Bulldog OC (2G) with A Gillette Blue Extra Vulfix 404 Badger/Boar Nanny Silly Soap Co Forest of Norway Soap Alum Block Nanny's Vanilla Post shave hydration Clubman Classic Vanilla AS Where Oh where did my laid back relaxing Saturdays go? I had 2 days growth and hoped for a relaxing straight shave. Instead I had so much to do....I went for a quick DE shave instead. The Ikon Bulldog OC is a great tool. Not too aggressive and delivers every time. The Forest of Norway was a sample, and it has been used a few times, (Days when I didn't post) Today was the first time I managed to face lather it properly. A quick 3 pass BBS....so I should not complain too much!
Bravo...Well Said....I know every time I pick up a vintage razor or smell Old Spice....It puts me back along side my Pop when I was a kid using a toy razor and Dad was showing me the ropes...It's a strong bond that will enrich his whole life....And that bond pays back to you too... These kind of things are getting lost in todays super fast lane lifestyle...Very cool to see the tradition being carried on....
Saturday! Rolls time! Prep: hot water splash, hot washing cloth, sesame oil marinade while lathering up Music: Philip Glass, Powaqqatsi Brush: Wilkinson Sword badger / boar Soap: vintage Williams mug lathered Razor: Rolls Razor Shave: 4-pass + touch-up Post: Hot water splash, cold water splash, TSD witch hazel cedarwood View attachment 27004 Very close to BBS. I was so busy having a nice shave that I lathered up for a fourth pass! Shave and enjoy!
First time using a mug and it was okay. I still prefer face lathering. WAL-MART shave VDH deluxe and Wilkinson blades Didn't like the Wilkinsons in a tech but in the slim set at 9 I found them to be adequate blades.
