View attachment 27036 Sunday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/new Rapira Kolynos Regular SC Hega AS Brut Cologne I was thinking of my 2nd "home away from home" which is Thessaloniki, Greece this morning and I wanted to take a nice "nostalgic shave" and this Kolynos Regular cream delivered fantastic lather with really good skincare. The scent is very flowery - in fact it's identical to C&E Almond, so it's very pleasant. The Hega aftershave is very neutrally-scented, so it won't disrupt the scent of any cologne or eau de toilette. Even though it has no menthol, it has a cooling effect.

Cold water shave as usual with Dr. Selby's shaving soap. I used 2 razors this morning, a Schick Hydro Magic and a Slim adjustable set at 4. A half a face each and I'd say the winner was the Schick Hydro. If I can stay away from my straights for one more day I'll bump up the Slim a couple of notches and do half my face with that and the other half with an old fat handled brass Tech and compare shaves again. I did end up with a fine shave.

There are several flavors of Rapira blades. The one I'm referring to I called Rapira Swedish Supersteel (still made in Russia ). There is also the Stainless, Super Stainless and the Platinum Lux. That's why I asked which one you were using. I take it's not the Swede.
April 21th Wash: Nivea Face Wash Pre: 5Savage PreShave Oil Razor: Merkur 38M Brush: Semogue 1305 Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel (1) Soap/Cream: Mystic Water - Lily of the Valley SS Post: Alum, 5Savages After Shave (witch hazel, rum, Tabac cologne) AS: Superior 70 Bay Rum ASB BBS- My first time with the Semogue 1305, which I just got that day. So far I like it. Very little smell (and what I do smell could just be me, lol!...jk), lots of backbone, and some of the bristles have already split. I didn't get the quantity of lather that I wanted and I'm pretty sure it's because I didn't have enough water. The lather I had was rather dry. Next time I'll bowl lather to get better control of it, then go back to face lathering. My experience with the Rapira Sweded continues to improve. This last shave was awesome, though I did get a few weepers from overaggressiveness.
Soak the 1305 in warm to hot water (just up to the dark part of the bristle) for about 20 minutes, let it just drip until it stops, then load the brush, then face lather. Works great. You are goint to love that brush once it gets broken in.
o4/22/2012 Sunday's Shower and Shave Hot shower, bar soap. Facial prep Proraso glycerin. Omega 48 and RazoRock Fresco Rocket and Spoiler RazoRock alum and TSD Angel Milk  a great DFS after three passes.
Thanks, Johnny, I'll try that. Do I need to soak it for 20 minutes every time I use it, or just when I'm breaking it in?

Sunday Fatboy Viking Sword The Manchurian MdC DR Harris Marlborough Trying out the fatboy again today. I shaved with it on 5 this morning. The MdC was amazing...I love this soap! The blade was a bit rough to begin with, but once I got the right angle the shave was as smooth as can be! It was a great shave this morning! DFS+
Sunday's shave. Prep: sesame oil Brush: wilkinson Sword badger / boar Soap: vintage Williams Razor: Rolls Razor! Shave: 3-pass + touch-up Post: hot water splash, cold water splash A bit of an off day. Forgot the hot washing cloth, forgot music, almost forgot to lather, lather wasn't that good today either... Still I got a DFS out of it. Anyway, tomorrow's another day, isn't it?
I soak all of my Semogue brushes this way everytime I shave. They usuall soak while I have a couple a cups of coffee in the morning. I say 20 minutes but anywhere between 15-30 will be fine.
