Wednesday, April 25, 2012 Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar Lather: Tabac cream - face lather Brush: Vulfix 2234 Razor: Merkur 39C Sledgehammer Slant Blade: Gillette Azul (2); 3+ passes Post: Cold water rinse; Tabac AS splash First shave with Tabac and I can understand the praise this stuff gets. The quality of the lather and the resulting shave is premier league quality. The scent couldn't be more YMMV. I really like it but my wife was a bit meh on the scent. It wasn't vetoed so that's good. The Azul blade from Brasil is pretty decent as well. It's not as nice as my Voskhod, but I get a better result with it than I do with Feather, Astra SP, and Derby. Another YMMV thing for sure.
That's a very nice looking brush. The handle looks great. Any chance of sharing some more pictures of that one?
Wednesday, April 25 (the shave was really at about 11:00 last night, but I'm calling it today's shave) Pre-shave: TSD ISZ Pre-shave balm Soap: TSD Commando Cocktail Brush: Simpsons Colonel XL2 Razor: '62 Slim Adjustable Blade: Voskhod (3) Post-shave: warm water rinse, cold water rinse, witch hazel When I shave at night, before bed, I don't typically use an A/S or my moisturizer, but I have been mixing a little bit of the left over soap with my witch hazel and splashing that on. It just gives a nice subtle scent enhancement without being too strong for bed. Have a great day everyone!
Wednesday Gillette Black Handle Gillette Yellow The Colonel Proraso Green SC Proraso Splash I'm home sick today, but thought that a shave would help me feel better. The proraso sc is very nice and seems more powerful than the soap. It was a decent shave, I did get some irritation, but I am blaming that on being sick. However the end result was a brilliant DFS+.
Hm, just got an email in: meeting cannot take place tomorrow, so I will have to make a new appointment.
Brian, I found a puck in an Army/Navy Surplus store. I thought I'd give it a try (I assumed it was GI Issue or something like that) and when I unwrapped it a couple of months later to replace one of my SS's I noticed it smelled just like Old Spice Classic scent. there were no markings on the wrapper so I "dubbed" it an Old Spice Classic Shave Soap Clone. That's my story and I'm sticking with it! LOL Since then, I went back to the Army/Navy Surplus Store to get as many pucks of the stuff as I could and it had closed down. Bummer! So, I will enjoy this one while I can.
