My shaving store's gonna hopefully soon get me a Feather Popular TTO. This one looks like it might be fantastic shaver.. underrated. Feather seems to be more aggressive about marketing it's razors lately so maybe in the future it's gonna be picking up some luv..

I prefer the Musgo Real. It has lanolin and really cushions my face and feels protective after the shave. My face can get a stinging sensation from the C.O. Bigelow when I make more than one or two passes.

The Feather Poplar is great, new and a TTO. (There are also many cheap new Chinese TTO's, I think.) It is mild and yet gets the job done. I wished I had started with the Feather. I think all one needs is a Gillette slim adjustable, a Feather Poplar, a G1 Schick and 1912 GEM.

I see you use Musgo Real shaving cream, I've been thinking of trying it out. I use C.O. Bigelow since all I can get locally, but how similar is Musgo Real to C.O. Bigelow?

I don´t know the Bigellow but Musgo Real is one of the best. You can find it here:
    Theportugalonlineshop.com
    You´ll enjoy it.

The lanolin makes the Musgo Real different from the C.O. Bigelow with its menthol-eucylyptus oils. C.O. Bigelow is made for them by Proraso, the Italian company. Many people love C.O. Bigelow/Proraso. It's just a matter of what you like.

I personally like C.O. Bigelow, but just wanted to know if I should try out the Musgo Real is all. As for the Feather Popular, I'll probably buy it when I get the chance, it looks like a good razor. The only thing I don't like from what I can see is the handle looks a little bit too long for my likings. Also Does anyone know if any other company's are looking to make a TTO razor? Since from what I can tell by reading up on the forums, the TTO razors tend to be on the medium side. Does anyone know of another good razor with medium agressiveness? Thanks!

Apparently the Muhle company might be working on one as we speak.. or so they said in a recent interview...

I'm glad to hear that, how good is Muhle's reputation anyway?

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

Top notch quality. The fit and finish is flawless on my R41.

I apologize for reviving a somewhat old post, but I had just shaved with my redtip again and noticed I don't get any irritation. But I had noticed irritation with my Merkur hd. I havent changed my technique any, and there both medium agressive razors. So I'm wondering what could be causing this strange difference?

Ya Dennis.. the head of your Red tip and TTO's in general, possibly have a higher profile than your Merker. The resulting difference in head geometry might be what is more agreeing with you in this case. My theory is that a higher high head profile provides a little more support thereby keeping the blade edge from digging in unduly into your skin.. but mind you that's only a theory...

So If your theory is correct, do you think that decreasing blade angle would help at all?

I think you've gotten a bit of a hint here about the Red Tip and at least for now, this one might be a good fit for you. It's probably at this point anyway, better to be actually experimenting with your razor angle and other variables than to be over thinking it. So try out different angles and such and see what happens...

Thank you again and I'll be experimenting quite a bit.

Fairly aggressive. I think it's the blade gap more than the weight. Always get a great close shave w/ one. The handle design is probably my favorite/prettiest of all the DE razors I've seen. Other beautiful handles for me would be the G-bar, Aristocrat and Single Ring for it's simplicity.

The only thing I can add to GDC... Is that the Red Tip is one of the few Superspeeds that I would buy again. Most if not all of them after 1950 shave almost the same. The other ones that I would but would be the '41 ranger and the '48 super.

I have been using the Red Tip for while with just a few interruptions. i have come to really like this Super Speed very much. I like the look and feel of it as well as the shaves it delivers. personally, i find it a tad milder than the EJ / Muehle 89 series, which used to be my benchmark razors.

I find that, paired with a very sharp blade such as a Feather, Super Iridium etc., the Red Tip is a fantastic razor. My shaves are irritation-free and very much DFS+.

The one i am currently using is rom the 4th Quarter 1956 production and has been restored and replated in Rhodium. I have another one, from the 2nd Quarter 1955, which is currently also going to the Revamp service and will be replated in Nickel.

The Gillette Red Tip Super Speed is, in my personal opinion, one of he best looking and best performing razors ever produced. At least one of them will always remain in my rotation.

I love mine. It's aggressive enough to do the job, but not so much that it's irritating.
It's also heavy enough to let you know that you have a chunk of metal in your hands.
No offense to the Feather Popular fans (myself included).
