It's in the high 80's here in Montreal, so I decided to throw as much menthol into my shower and shave as I possibly can. The Axe Shock shower gel smells really nice and has a ton of menthol in it, and the Vostok cream is a POTENT face-freezer with a lovely scent, great lather and wonderful protection against dryness and irritation. The Alcolado Glacial puts the final delightful freeze on a magnificent shave.

Nice & smooth, really enjoyable!

I have re-arranged and streamlined (actually, ‘uncluttered’ would be a better term) my main Den shelve, there are now only 3 shave soaps in their respective bowls in addition to the razor & brush stand and I do like smelling each of them before selecting the one for the day. I have eliminated the shave soap sticks, although I am a face latherer I do not enjoy applying the sticks, it is just not the same. So I grated the remaining 1 ¾ Calani Dubai sticks into one bowl and a remaining 1 ½ Calani Purissima sticks were added to a half puck in another bowl over the weekend. Those 2, together with the MdC, are my staple soaps for the time being. I will post an updated picture in ‘my Den’ later today.

The baby oil is not for the shave itself. I've tried it on the Treet blades, after drying, to try to inhibit rust. Results are inconclusive.

I've got the original wooden handle for this razor, but prefer the metal one for actual shaving.

I do this on my razors especially the Pils 101NE.I've never had rust issues with the Pils but I know others have.IF it's good enough for a baby's butt I'm sure it's good enough for razors and blades.

A little surprised to notice some slight tugging on the ATG pass this morning. I think my lather might have been a bit off so that could be it. Anyway, that's it for this comparison as the new La Famiglia soaps are set to arrive today so I'll be using those for a while.

Sunday May, 20th (I didn't get a chance to post this last night)


Pre-shave: Hot shower, wife's hair conditioner
Soap: DVH Extra Fris
Brush: Firehouse Pottery 22mm Silvertip
Razor: Futur
Blade: Bolzano (2)
Post-shave: warm water rinse, cold water rinse, witch hazel

I shaved last night using the Futur with a hand stropped Bolzano with one shave on it. The first time I enjoyed the Bozano, but this time it didn't seem as smooth. I still enjoyed it and I had a fantastic shave with no weepers, irritation, and nearly BBS, but it just didn't seem as smooth. I'll see what happens next time. Have a great day everyone!

Trying the Progress on 3.5 setting today. Backed off half a notch for an eyes closed, (morning groggy mode) worry-free shave. At this setting it is about the same as a Fat Boy on #5. I really like the effortless shaving this razor provides. The short handle is great for getting under the chin line of my beard. I probably will go back to the #4 setting though as I like a little more aggressiveness than the 3.5 setting. The nice thing about adjustable razors is; you can dial them in to suit your mood.
