    Vanilla Thursday

    Warm shower
    VDH Deluxe SS
    Omega Pro (chrome) boar
    Merkur 23c w/ Kai Stainless
    Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser
    Nivea Sensitive lotion
    Masters Bay Rum AS

DFS ! wtg, xtg, atg. Lazy on jaw line or would have easily been BBS-. Briefly re-opened a weeper from yesterday ... stared sternly at it for all of 3 seconds and it decided on its own volition to darn well stop!!!! Warm water rinse between passes, cold water rinse after Cetaphil. With a light breeze filtering in through the window, the bay rum feels ... nice!
    ----
Except for the Kai Stainless blade, today's setup is about as plain vanilla as I get ... no fuss ... solid ... dependable ... undemanding ... close.

I got rad really bad when I first started so still getting to some samplers and today I decided to go to some T&H samples I had. I really enjoy their creams as they are super moisturizing but the smell on this one was nice but not something Iwould want everyday. Its got a old time feel with like a flowerish smell but what a lather. I need to get an 1805 sample as I think I would enjoy it.

Razor: 69 Slimline Gillette Adjustable (set on 7)
Blade: Walgreen’s (Vintage Blade 1st use)
    Brush: Semogue 830
Cream: TOBS Sandalwood & Williams (ultra-lather)
A/S: Alum Bar & Cold Water Rinse
    A/S: Pinaud Clubman

I did not like this blade at all; from the very beginning, it pulled, tugged, and dragged. I changed to a second blade after the first pass; the new blade was a little better, but just barely. My lather was good, thick, and rich with a good amount of lubricity. I’m thinking these blades did not age well or they were lousy when my father-in-law got them some 30+ years ago. I barely got a DFS with a lot of razor burn on a 3-pass shave. I tossed the second blade and I’m not sure what I will do with the rest.:(

    Blade: Astra SP (4)
Soap/Cream: Ogallala Bay Rum and Sandalwood :happy096:
    Brush: Omega 599 silvertip
AS: Ogallala Bay Rum and Sandalwood

2 pass DFS. I took it really easy today because I've had trouble with bay rum irritating me before and didn't want to provoke my neck. I got a sampler from Ogallala and I think the sandalwood is my fav. It lathered beautifully and was very comfortable, and talk about an amazing scent! I'm absolutely in love with the smell coming off of this stuff and I've always been sort of impartial to bay rum in the past. Then the matching AS to go with (this is what worried me as it's quite strong.) No problems whatsoever! I'm loving the silky smooth spicey vanilla/sandalwood smell coming off my face right now. That just really put me into a good mood. Now I just need to hide my credit cards and stay away from their website...

    Good morning.

I decided to use a Cartridge razor for a change again for my Friday shave:

    Calani Lavender shave soap
    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
Mühle Travel shave brush in Nickel with Silver Tip Fibre
    Gillette Mach 3 (new cartridge)
    Musgo Real Classic after shave

I have been using, on & off, my 2-blade Gillette Sensor Excel II over the past few months and I find those mild shaves quite pleasant on some days. The Mach 3 however I have not used in years and I find it a completely different razor to the Sensor. Yes, the shave this morning was mild, but not as thorough or efficient as I would have hoped for. The result of a shave with the Twin-blade Sensor is, IMHO, much better than it is with its 3-blade cousin. Although none get’s even close to the long-lasting effect of a decent shave with a real SE, DE or Straight, the Sensor however usually does a good enough job for me to look presentable throughout the working day.
I thought it would be good having a couple of cartridges of both lying around, just in case for whatever the reason, but I think I will leave it at ‘a couple of cartridges for the Sensor’ only in the future, I don’t see myself using the Mach 3 system much anymore after I am done with my current stock of blades.

Aside that, I enjoyed today’s shave very much. The Calani lather was outstanding, and I just love the smell of the Musgo pre-shave oil. And the Glory of face lathering with a decent brush, I don’t need to describe here I am sure, being among like-minded people.

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend ahead!

    BBS!

This Iridium Super blade, for the first time, now shows just the slightest degradation from the prior shave. Just barely enough to notice, but there was a bit more tugging going on.

The T&H Limes was awesome tonight. One more shave and that sample's gone.
