It is with a sad heart that the passing of Bob Smith is being reported on Facebook and on various other shaving sites on the web. Although I do not have a BRW handle, I had spoken to him numerous times and was anxiously awaiting for him to complete his move and return back to making handles. RIP Bob, you contributed much to the shaving community. May Peace Be Upon You.
According to a May 26, 2012 post by his cousin on Bob's Facebook page, he passed away on April 5, 2012. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=649545554 The Sacramento County (California) Coroner's record search confirms, but says April 9, 2012: http://coroner.saccounty.net/rptDeathsDetail.asp?CaseNum=12-01681 RIP.
Another shave brother gone. His Bull Masiff Handle was a work of art. RIP Bob, my humble condolences to his family.
Even though I haven't had any contact with him, it was always nice seeing his work, and seeing his work being appreciated. RIP Bob.
I've always admired his work since learning of it. Had brief Email contact with him a few years ago when I was thinking of getting one of his custom jobs, but in the end decided against it, because one can only buy so much. It would have been well worth it though, as he was a fine craftsman. He was quite knowledgeable about razors in general. When he posted here or on B&B, he always had something worthwhile to say. He will be missed.
I have a razor and two stands Bob made for me. They are true works of art. Bob was always gracious and helpful. What a sad loss.
cooncatbob (Robert Harold Smith, 56, of Carmichael, California) passed away on April 9, 2012. I just saw this at the 'Fedora Lounge'...Caught me completely by surprise....Seems he was cremated and there was no service or obituary.... So its possible some of out Den-Mates have missed this...If this has been posted before, I apoligize...I tried to search it and came up with nothing.... God rest his soul....and protect his loved ones...
