Thursday: No picture this week Star 1912 Treet blade Omega boar Arko stick Star was one of the brand names that got absorbed into the American Safety Razor Co. A Star 1912 is just the same as a Gem 1912. My last Treet blade. At least half the blades in this 10 pack had significant rust on them out of the pack. Of course, those got tossed immediately. They were right next to blades which were shiny and rust free, like this one. Very odd. You wouldn't pick Arko for the scent, but you can't go wrong with the lather.
Thursday: Turkish Horsehair Super Speed/Rapira day 4 Mama Bear Awakenings SS 444 AS Balsam/Osage Rub AS Splash Obsession for Men EDT The cooling sensation from the Awakenings soap is off the charts - it really froze my face today, in fact it felt even colder than the first time I used it. The 444 balsam and the Osage Rub are great partners - between the 2 of them, your skin will need all day to thaw out. This was such a nice shave!

Thursday Schick (G8) Schick Blade The Colonel Proraso Red Proraso Splash I broke out the Proraso red today. It is a very nice shave cream! A milder version of the green. It lathered very nice and was very slick and cushioning. I did a 3 pass shave and ended up near BBS...I am very happy I tracked this shave cream down, its wonderful! Happy Thursday everybody!

SOTD Thursday 6-7-2012 Fatip Piccolo w/Astra SP Patchouli SS Vintage Austrian Barbershop Boar Dickinson's Witch Hazel Nivea ASB Mennen Original Skin Bracer A lot of the Gentlemen on the forums have discovered the Fatip's and are finding them to be outstanding razors. (I being one of them!) The heads on the Grande and the Piccolo are the same and consequently shave the same but, with the two handle variations two different personalities of razors are created. The Grande is a larger longer handle version and the Piccolo is a smaller diameter and shorter handle varient. The Grande is IMHO universally accepted by the Brotherhood however, the poor little Piccolo is often dissed due to his small short handle. Some have gone the custom handle route (Bulldogs, Webers, etc.) but I think that takes away from the Piccolo's personality and individual style. It is excellent as a close quarters shaver for those under the jawline areas where it's shorter handle is appreciated. If I have a Grande and I put a custom handle like a Bulldog on the Piccolo then I don't have a Piccolo anymore I have two Grande's so to speak. I will keep the little Piccolo as designed and enjoy both versions of this fine razor. It is up to each individual to address their individual needs and styles and as Steve says; 'It's your shave, do it your way"; good advise; I think that applies to handle selections as well.
Omega 10005 Super speed w/ Gillette Thin 3rd shave T&H Trafalgar cream T&H Trafalgar aftershave balm 3rd shave on this blade and what a regret. I waited longer than usual and was on my 5th day of no shaving and for a mild blade I got tugging galore. After 2 passes ended up using a slim on 4 with a Voskhod blade doing 3 passes. It helped but my skin is semi sore from the first 2 passes. I really enjoy the T&H lather and hard to knock them except for being a little pricey.
Thursday June 7 Pre: Hot shower Soap: TSD Limited Run Pineapple Brush: Omega 599 Silvertip Razor: Gillette Red Tip Super Speed Blade: Astra Superior Premium Platinum Post: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel Very nice 2+ pass shave after skipping yesterday. As always TSD soap was wonderful and it smells great. I have to say I got a little in my mouth and it definitely doesn't taste like pineapples.

Thursday, June 7th Pre-shave: Hot shower Soap: RazoRock La Famiglia Cumba Cheech Brush: AOS Best Badger Razor: Schick E2 Blade: Schick (2) Post-shave: warm water rinse, cold water rinse, witch hazel, alum block A/S: RazoRock La Famiglia Cumba Cheech A/S Balm Moisturizer: L'Oreal Men's Expert Vita Lift w/ SFP 15 Today's shave ended up as a DFS+ (BBS on all of face, but there is still some roughness on my neck), but it didn't start out that way. I did a 3-pass shave that wasn't the most comfortable on the third ATG pass. The aggressiveness of the E2 gave me a couple of weepers and a little skin irritation on my jaw line. Nothing too bad and nothing that the A/S balm couldn't handle. This was my second time using the E2 and I think a couple more uses and I'll have it giving me great shaves each and every time, just like it's cousins the G1 and I2. Have a great day everyone!
