I do need some help if anyone can explain how to remove the blades. The Thursday blade is in it and I would like to remove it so I cna clean her up a bit
Very cool. I'm sorry, I have no idea how to get the blades out as I have never seen one of these before, but I'm sure somebody will be along shortly to help you out.
I believe you release the razor by pushing the round button on the back. From there you should he able to flip up the blade and these ones twist out I think. I don't know if there is another locking mechanism, but that is how my Wilkinson works...minus twisting the blade out...I just have an empire not the 7 day set.
Nice one! An example of the first safety razor design. As I don't have one of these or any similar old SEs I can't help you with the opening mechanism. You could post the question over at this forum which is dedicated to single edge razors: http://www.theoriginalsafetytoo.proboards.com/index.cgi Many are also members here. edit: Oops, too late. Looks like you've got an answer already.
Turn the knob at the bottom to the left as far as it will go (about 2 turns, don't force it - see second image below where step # 4 continues and see Fig. B in first image where step # 4 begins). Then press the stop screw (see second image below, Fig. C) at the back of the frame, press it in and up. To put it back together, see step # 3 in the first image and Fig. A.
Just noting that I was in the middle of typing it out for you when others posted - so no one thinks I'm stepping on toes.
Thank you Jody I copied and printed out the instructions...now to find the strop that belongs to this I want to complete this set
Rhodium polishes up beautifully! Scrub it with ScrubbingBubbles, then rub some Maas or Flitz with a toothbrush, then, gently but aggressively (if that makes sense) rub it down with a terrycloth rag. The 7 day set blades slide out of the holders for honing(if you look at each end of the holders, one has a tab, blocking the blade, the other is open, with a spring pushing down on the spine). I love the Wilkinsons because of their immense capacity for adjustment. Fatboys have nothing on them!
