So this morning I figured I had the time to really have a great shave, so I went Kamisori
I am not sure what the Kanji says, something like "finest shave" or some such [IMG]

Started with the last of my Devon & Spencer Spice shave cream in the Georgetown scuttle whipped with a Col. Conk 20mm Pure Badger my first Badger brush [IMG]

The Razor as noted is a Japanese Kamisori

    Strop: 20/40 King Pelican
Aftershave: Superior 70 Mentholated Bay Rum

    Shave was OUTSTANDING [IMG]

    Friday June 8th

    Pre Shave: Hot Shower
    Razor: EJ89L
    Blade: Derby
    Brush: Omega 10048
    Shave Cream: C.O. Bigelow
    After Shave: Nivea

A few things about this shave:
This was my first time trying out my new setup and I also decided I would get in on the guns and shaving pictures. I have to say this was probably the best shave I have ever had in my entire life. BBS with no irritation or bleeding. I did a 3 pass shave with a few touch ups.

    Good afternoon.

My Saturday shave was a rather international one:

Martin de Candre Lavender shave soap from France
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush with Silver Tip Fibre from Germany
1956 Gillette Red Tip Super Speed in Rhodium from the United States
Voskhod Razor Blade, Teflon coated (2nd shave) from Russia
D.R. Harris Bay Rum after shave from England

Very nice. On first impression, the Voskhod seems a good fit with the Red Tip. Time and more shaves will tell.

    Wishing all a wonderful weekend!

Friday night - 3rd shave of injector week (last shave of 2 weeks straight of injector)
    IMG_0261.JPG

Tonight was a labor of love shave, not really nessicary and absolutly enjoyable.
I have the next few days off of work and I am starting a 2 week beard growth/shavette trip.
I am planning on growing a chin strap beard to attach to my goatee.
Problem is I havent been able to grow side burns longer than my ear since switching to taditional shaving.
I know I know what does growing a beard have to do with shaving. I'm getting there.
I will be doing 2 weeks of controled cheek and neck shaving with my shavette.
And how does that connect to this shave?
I 1 pass BBS'd my neck tonight :susel: getting the southern outline of that beard!
I give the assist to boards of canada and there ambiant real-eye's-ational melody for putting me into the zone

I lik the looks & color of the bowl, but I love the simplicity of that razor! Does it have a symmetrical or an asymmetrical edge? (I thought I read somewhere they were asymmetrical, but I'm not sure) :)

    Polo Original EDT

I just cannot stay away from a mentholated cream or soap for more than 1 day - I'm hopelessly addicted, or so it seems! I enjoyed the Palmolive Menthol cream so much this morning because of its great scent, lather, and strong cooling sensation. The 444 balsam and Osage Rub added the final delightful freeze to this terrific shave! ;) :D

    Prep: Cold water rinse
Lather: MWF - ultra face lather
    Brush: Muhle Black Fibre
    Razor: Valet AutoStrop VC1
Blade: Modified Pella PTFE (1); 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse; hot shower

My first use of MWF with an UltraLather shave and it was great. It is not as easy to create the lather as Mike's is, but it really is a fine lather and great post-shave skin care. I will be making videos with this to show the differences in lather type and creation once I get my camera back. After today's UltraLather I really hope that no one is shaving with this soap when it's light and airy as it's very possible to get a creamy lather with MWF and it's amazing when you do.

Most all Japanese Kamisori are Asymetrical, although I have seen a very limited few that were ground with Bi-Bevels, Just for clarification we are talking Traditional here as there are many new Custom makers making all sorts of Kamisori Styles...
The blade design it rather unique, they are not to be confused with a true chisel style either, as the back side does have a hollow, where a Microtome does not, they handle different, hone different and shave like a dream if you pay attention :) Honestly if I ever gave up the whole collecting thing and became just a "Shaver" these razors would be at the top of my list of keepers...

As I write this 24 hours later, I could go without a shave today, but I won't :p

Decided to try CWS this morning, now I'm not sure if it was the Personna as well but I had the smoothest shave ever today. May have to try the continued cold all weekend and next week with different blades to see how this goes. Helped kill the crankiness after being woken up at 5am by another course outside getting a beasting from their instructors.
