the wife let me go to the movies today, which was awesome. I saw Prometheus, which was also quite awesome. the kids were in good moods when I returned from the theater, which makes for awesome #3. So it's an awesome day so far!
So - MUCH - AWESOMEOMEOMEOEMEOM! (bar Prometheus which I found very boring , but whatever floats your boat...)
This morning I discovered how far I can run without needing food to sustain me. 8.7 miles. As I plan to get going longer, it's time to start trying out gels, chews, etc. Maybe try my hand at Pinole cakes.
Watched the 3rd and 4th games of the Euro football 2012 champs today....germany v portugal was borrrrrrrrrrrring. Got any tips for warming up/down? My ankles seem to ache more than anywhere else after running. The furthest I have been in one run is 5-odd miles according to my iPod..gonna try going for 10 miles soon!
Congrats! My wife and I had our 21st anniversary last night. We went out for sushi (I LOVE sushi and ate a LOT of it!), then to a comedy club where we laughed our butts off.
My daughter's volleyball team went 4-0 today in a warm up tourney before heading to nationals in Orlando in two weeks. They've been kickin' some butt lately!!
It's not so much warm-up/cool-down as it is form. Look at one of the natural/barefoot running styles like Chi Running, POSE, 10-Up, Etc. They all get to the same form, but take different paths to get there. Pick one that appeals to you and learn to run so it doesn't hurt. Personally, I've looked at a bunch of these methods and played around with a bunch of different drills and getting the right form. I was 95% there, but to get the last little tweaks right I had to go run barefoot in the grass. If you're a reader, you should check out the book "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall. It's the catalyst that brought barefoot and minimalist running back into popularity.
My recovery run this morning loosened everything up and I'm feeling great 24 hours after my longest run so far. My mom is visiting and my daughter has her ballet recital tonight. My daughter has become a very good dancer and will start on pointe this summer.
I'm on TV tomorrow! ARRRGHHH I'm so nervous. I'm packing up pretty much my whole shave den to bring along. Getting all my barbering tools ready - framing my awards and shining my medals - wheeee! I hope I don't fall or accidently swear - live TV argh!
I took my Mom out to lunch today. We had a really good visit. And she surprised my husband with an extra graduation gift, of my Dad's best watch.
Its my first Monday off where I don't have to work on school stuff. Woo Hoo!!!! Summer break is finally here!
Took TWGW on a date Friday night, we saw The Avengers. It was awesome! TWGW is teaching herself how to draw and paint, and she drew a still life yesterday. It too, was awesome! And the awesomest of news, our niece who was recently having some serious personal issues was baptised last night! It doesn't get much awesomer than that.
Very true! In addition to being a nice watch, I just learned that it was the engagement gift Mom gave to Dad. Very meaningful.
okay guys, you asked so I'm showing! - sorry the quality is a little grainy but here you go: http://barbereile.blogspot.ie/2012/06/barber-eile-goes-on-irelandam.html I was annoyed that you can't see any of the 10+ razors and brushes and numberous jars of shaving cream I had around as props to talk about. The presenter was set on it just being a trendy "make-over" piece. Anyway I'm just happy I didn't sweaty, swear or completely blank!
Fantastic, Eile! Congratulations on your TV debut and live TV no less; impressive. That guy looked 10 times better when you were finished. Way to go. :2thumbs:
