1. To paraphrase an old religious joke: Baptism them, give them Holy Communion, and Confirm them, and you'll never see them again.
  2. I've seen season 1, and I agree, though the movies are really good, too.
  3. Several methods here. Personally, I've found method 3 with Boric Acid to be the best if you have really stubborn ants. Don't let quick success fool you either, the ants not yet hatched will make a second generation you will also need to kill so leave the mix out for the second wave.
  4. Who knew that something so wonderful as cornmeal (cornbread, yum!) could be a killer. Bye bye ants!
  5. So in my awesome news, I got a Fathers Day card from my 3-year-old godson and his siblings. (I have no kids of my own.)

  6. Yep! Ant bait seems to work the best for me when the ants start visiting. The trick is to find a bait they like. Some ants favor sweet things and some are more attracted to fats. The baits are a slow working ant poison that the ants pick up and carry back to their colony (to share). The bait is inside a small metal or plastic thingy with holes that the ants can climb or walk in to pick it up and carry off. That way you don't have to actually handle or touch the poison.
  7. Aw, that's really nice!

  8. My father's day generally sucked- I was dehydrated and felt horrible from having been outside all day on Saturday preparing for/throwing my son's 1st birthday party (that was pretty awesome) and not drinking any water all day leading to dehydration, and I got to spend most of the day on Sunday working on my SIL's car because the brakes were making a funny noise. I am happy to be able to help her out a little bit when I can, but this day I just really didn't feel like it. That, obviously wasn't the awesome part though. The awesome part is that my FIL is extremely appreciative of all the work I've done on the car and the stuff that I've done to help my SIL out (I don't really see it as that big of a deal). I know that he's really appreciative and he thanks me all of the time, but when my in-laws were visiting this weekend, my MIL gave me a bag from my FIL for father's day. It wasn't anything that big or special - just a simple wrench set I had mentioned wanting to pick up a couple of weeks ago. But you have to understand my FIL to know why this was awesome. He doesn't do that. He doesn't give gifts. Sure, at Hanukkah or for a birthday my MIL will tell him to get something for us and he'll go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy tools or whatever for me, but he just doesn't go out and buy people gifts. My wife has had him give her exactly 1 'spontaneous' gift in her entire life. My SIL (whose car I was working on) said he's never bought her a present in her 27-year life. But he thought about the fact that it was Father's Day, knew something I had mentioned wanting, went out and got it for me, AND THEN made sure to send it along with my MIL even though he couldn't make it out for the weekend. That was pretty awesome.

  10. A couple of days late but for Father's day I received a handwritten card from my 8 year old son that made me cry (just thinking about it now brings tears to my eyes) It was so sweet and his words really touched me. While watching the Giant's game last night he asked me about it. He said, "Dad, when you read my card, were you crying?" I told him Yeah, I was and that his words were so nice and made me feel so good, that I cried. Then he hugged me. Awesome.

  13. Why, oh why do they have to be so darn picky when you're trying to poison them?

  15. Hey you want to hear something awesome and pest related? Last fall my folks were trying to kill some mice that had taken up residence in the loft of their barn. So my mother put some of those poison bait trays out up there. Over the next few weeks the trays were gradually emptied, and mouse problem solved right? Wrong. Not only did we found out that not only did the mice not die off, but this spring when we started to do some repair work on the barn, we found out that mice stored the poison in the walls for winter and forgot about it. Awesome.

  20. Got the new Lego Batman game for the PS3. Because I pre-ordered it, I got a cool Lex Luthor Mini-fig that is exclusive to people who bought the game at Gamestop. It's also the first lego game to feature voices for the characters. I played a bit of it last night and it's pretty awesome.
