    I second that.....Very cool Jody....So Ryan...Looks like you're cool....Congratulations man....and 'Happy Shaves To You...."

    For the record:
I don't like Williams but LOVE Arko....I keep my Arko shave stick out in the open and the scent is a non-issue....I smushed one in a screw top jar for traveling, and lathered it in the jar...worked great...After I got home I put it on a shelf and forgot about it...Opened it up yesterday and WHEW!! Things had got a little nasty smelling in there...lol...But I know if I leave the top off and put it outside, in a day or two; the scent will be a non-issue again....As far as smelling like a urinal cake....Hummm...Its been so long since I've lathered with a urinal cake...:shocked003:

But it does seem like I remember the Arko was alot easier to face lather .....:happy097:

"If you don't like the scent, then leave it out in the open and the scent will go away."
Then why bother with scented soaps at all if you're only in it for the lather?
Plenty of unscented soaps out there that make a great lather.
Me, I have over three dozen soaps for one reason - I like all the different scents. And, just for the record, I quite happy with the lather I get I get from them all (Williams excluded).

But, hey... It's your shave. Enjoy it your way.

I just tried the Arko stick a week ago when I had some time off in Bangkok. It's kind of fun to use. You won't believe how much lather you can generate from a minuscule amount of soap. Don't be stingy on water if you want to generate a good lather.

Yes... the scent... Well, for me it smells like Ivory soap except much stronger. I don't mind it. Even though the scent is strong I found that it rinsed away quite well and didn't clash with after shave balms or lotions.

This inexpensive little stick will give you a very good shave. Give it a try.

Personally I actually like the scent and the lather of the Arko, but not the Williams.

I happen to like 'em both (the vintage Williams more than the new). I've got three sticks right now: Arko, Palmolive (the European version), De Vergulde Hand and Tabac. Apart from the DVH they are all tallow soap sticks. The DVH performs as great as the others. (in my -limited- experience :) ).

I don't know if the 'American' Palmolive contains tallow as well. Perhaps there's the origin of the difference in performance?

    Um... isn't that four? :D

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

Speick, Taboc, Valabra, Lea, Ogallala, Mama Bears; in order of preference. I like shave sticks way better than a puck of soap. When my last puck is gone, I will use only shave sticks for my shaving soap.

Compliments of Jody, my Palmolive and Erasmic sticks showed up along with a vintage tube of American Palmolive. Now all I have to do is figure out what to use today.

One more thing about Speick; it's made from a plant found in the Carinthian Alps (Southern Austria). The Speick plant has medicinal properties used for thousands of years. I really recommend it. http://www.speickwerk.com/the-speick-plant/

It smells good. I also have the GUT label. It's a toss up between that and Erasmic for today's shave and my first shave with a shave stick.
