Day four of the blind blade test, which is the 1st shave with blade number 2. Per the guidelines of the test I will not be posting my results of the blade, as we do not want other participants to be influenced by our own shaving experince. At the end of the test, I will be posting my complete daily journal which I will share on Google docs for those interested.

July 23th Face Wash: Billy Jealousy Liquid Sand exfoliating face cleanser Pre-Shave Lather: Maca Root SC Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable "Black Beauty", set at 4 Blade: Astra (3) Brush: Semogue 1305 Soap/Cream: Institut Karite Post: Kiehl's Ultimate Men's After Shave Balm and Moisturizer I didn't intend it to be, but this was a sample shave. The Billy Jealousy face cleanser sample I received from ShavingCreams.com The Institut Karite I bought as a sample from Garry's Sample Shop and the Kiehl's ASB sample I received during a visit to the local Kiehl's store. The Billy Jealousy is a nice product, and I love the scent, but I really don't like a gritty face cleanser on an unshaven face. This isn't nearly as bad as other exfoliating cleansers however. The IK I found to be a little boring. The lather was fine but not spectacular and the scent was almost imperceptible. I've got a few more days to go to work with it yet, so I may get better at lathering it and my opinion may improve. The Keihl's ASB was transferred from the test bottle to a small tub at the store, about 4 months ago and is currently yellowish. I don't know if this was the original color or not. A skin has also developed on the top. I don't know if it still performs the way it's supposed to, but I found it to be very moisturizing, but too greasy for me. If I were a morning shaver this would be a deal breaker, but since I'm a night shaver, I can put up with it enough to use up the sample.

The paint brush seems not to clump together when applying water and softens the beard well. Ended up darn fine. Some irritation though so I applied the pure peppermint oil. Lol after a while, the eyes stopped watering and it felt alright...

KAI blade first one that felt a bit rough in Weber-and gave some weepers. Bad blade? Bad combo? Don't like KAI as much as I thought-though I never considered it one of my faves. Time will tell.

Good afternoon everyone, stay cool and well hydrated in the grips of this heat. Today would have been Amelia Earhart's birthday. Real american hero. Today's Shower&Shave had these featured items. A hot shower to hopefully undo the stiffness in my back, was only partially helpful. I have been using Dove for Men bar soap, has great moisturizing for the skin. Facial prep with Proraso glycerin, prepared the face very well for the lather and the upcoming shave. Brush choice Semogue 1460, lathers today's soap choice Malaspina Oatmeal Shave cream. Razor choice Gillette SS with a modern Gillette super thin. Three exceptional passes resulted in a superior DFS. After a great shave a refreshing cold water splash, facial toning with RazoRock alum, a generous splash of Ogalla Bay Rum. A dab of TSD Angel type to add a bit of luxury to a great shave.
