Just purchased me 100 Derby blades off of Amazon.com for $6.99 with free shipping......absolutely stoked about that purchase as these blades to this day are the ONLY blades that can give me a nick free and super smooth shave. I lucked out to get such good shaves from such cheap blades....especially considering they seem to be more commonly hated amongst shaving enthusiasts than loved.

There's a few of these great Derby deals around these days. The blade works well for me too..seems to have just the right feel and I get 4 good shaves from them...

    Another classic case of YMMV!

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

I might have to order 100. They worked very well in my R41, so for that price they can't be beat except by my Voskhods.

Yea the Derbys tend to work well in almost all my razors....my Yuma and EJ 89 ...my Merkur 34c is also up on the top of the list....have not tried them in my recently acquired Schick Krona so I will have to try that combo out for sure!

honestly for me....Voskhods are a bit more "draggy" for me than the Derbys which are smooth as all get out....Iv found tho that with the last few Voskhod Blades iv tried.....I tried them each twice and chunked em in the used blade jar.....did not get great results from them like I use to (they use to be one of my favorite blades)....kinda strange!

Derby's also work well for me. Great deal on the blades.

Just a question but I seem to find people comparing Derbys to Astras as very similar blades...is this true?.....I on the other hand had nothing but yanked out whiskers and blood baths with Astras.....worst things I have ever put to my face.

    Smott Chew your shave. Slowly.

This is what I find so intriguing about DE shaving—Derby blades were not blood-letters for me, but there was significantly more tug on each hair while shaving with them. Astras, on the other hand, have been a lot smoother for me than the Derby blades. I have fairly quick growth and substantial whiskers.

Don't get me wrong—I believe you. I just never get over the YMMV of blades no matter how many similar experiences are recounted.

Someone let me know when they find a deal like this on SE blades! Derbys didn't work well for me at all, but for those that can enjoy them let me just say that I'm envious of this deal. Enjoy it in good health.

I use Derby's almost exclusively now. They do seem to tug a little for the first shave, but are very smooth for subsequent shaves. I may be mistaken, but I believe the tugging may have something to do with the coating of the blade. I do get good shaves from pretty much anything I try, but you can't beat the price, and for me the smoothness of the shave also can't be beat. That is the nature of YMMV. Some feel that they need an R41 with Feathers, I can do the same thing with Derby's and a Tech.

I love Feather blades....but very rarely do I get a nick free shave with them lol.....it goes ninja on my face with a quickness!

I don't hate Derby's ... just not sharp enough for me. Blade on face is super comfy, but tugs at every hair I have. Haven't tried in my Slant ... who knows maybe it'd work.

Since Astra was brought up as a comparison ... I like Astra ... because its sharp enough, comfortable enough, and doggone it .. I like it!

Seconded. Derby's are ok when they're ok...meaning the packs I had just got so consistently unreliable one blade to the next, they weren't worth keeping (and I'm a packrat).

Astras have been hanging out in the back of my mind lately; I recall it being surprisingly smooth but that was better part of a year ago I tried one. Need to check if I even still have that sample pack.

Yup, did the same thing a couple of weeks ago off Amazon. I do like them but they are a bit strange for me, they feel like they're dragging on my face a bit, but I get an awesome shave with them. Did my 4th shave with a blade today, will try for a 5th one on Sunday or Monday. Best deal I have found on the net. I have always been curious about Feathers, but right under my nose and on the chin are my vulnerable areas for nicks, so I'm slightly reluctant. Derby's on the other hand, not even a small weeper. Since I have 98 more blades to use I'm gonna stick with them for a while. Those and my Wal-Mart Wilkies.
