How would you describe…

weepers? I think of them as places that will bleed after I've shaved the area but haven't actually nicked or visibly cut the skin. Any other definitions? I'm was trying to describe the difference between weepers, nicks and cuts to a non-wet shaver. Any better definitions?

That's my understanding as well. I've shaved a spot and a small dot of blood seems to emerge through the shaving cream unexpectedly. Nicks are where you catch an edge or otherwise break a tiny point of skin, and cuts are sliced lines. We'll discuss dismemberment should the need arise...

I've always thought of weepers as painless nicks that you don't notice until after the shave, that don't dribble blood down your face, and disappear after an application of witch hazel.
and cuts are anything you have to use an alum block or styptic pencil to close. If I have to use a Band-Aid, the cut gets elevated to a "bite" or gash.:D

@Steve. Dismemberment?! Yikes! Sounds too much like the Civil War. :scared001:

I have to admit though, I'm healing up from a smile incident. I was moving the razor and happened to smile at something that was said. When I did the corner of my cheek went up to greet my razor as it was moving sideways. It was definitely a slice. I used the styptic pencil, got the blood stopped, but now have a nice little pink scar. NOT a weeper (unless you count me looking at it in the mirror now).

Weepers are when you shave away enough of the epidermis that you actually expose a tiny area of the capillary bed, and it "oozes". Not a cut or nick, per se, but an area of very much too close a shave. Wrong angle will contribute, as will going against the grain without enough care, and the grain of the bristle can catch the edge and draw the blade too deep. Then, of course, there is that whole other class of weepers, otherwise known as "chick flicks"... but enough about that!

Not just "chick flicks" in that category—ever watched a really moving sports film where everybody slowly begins to applaud the guy who fell down but then finishes the race with the help of his wayward father? Or that war epic where the guy goes back despite the obvious risks to help a fallen comrade? Or that really powerful moment when Bambi's...mother...............I'll be right back.......

Weeping through a chick flick? Are you still sure you want a custom title?

Hmmm, I don't believe that I said I weep thru chick flicks... I thoughtful, sage old goat might tear up a bit, but never weep... Yes, still hoping for that custom title!

    Old Yeller. 'nuff said.

I've always assumed weepers were those spots where you shaved a bit too close but they don't bleed freely. They just kinda ooze a bit.

I was taught to refer to blood/irritation in these terms:

Raspberry - Small clutters of very fine blood "dots" that appear on skin after a shave, blood visible, but not oozing.
Weeper - Small "dot" of blood that casually bleeds
Nick- a small bleeding area that is typically caused by improper placement of blade to skin
Cut - As the name implies, a cut to your skin. Usually happens due to poor technique, or dull blade
