Steve gave me some great inspiration just now to start this week off, so not only is it Menthol Monday, it's Menthol Week! In the meantime for: Menthol Monday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/new Rapira Egyptian Ingram SC Diana Sport Menthol Balsam Osage Rub AS Givenchy Pour Homme EDT I don't know how much colder than this it could possibly get because the Egyptian version of Ingram is so damn cold that you feel the menthol sensation for an hour after the shave. Add the Diana Sport balsam and the Osage Rub and you'll be frozen almost the whole day!
The thermometer may say 100 degrees outside in Phoenix... It was reaching near Arctic conditions in my bathroom this morning! Proraso PSC / Proraso Soap / Semogue 620 / EJ DE89 w/ 7 o'clock yellow / 444 / The Rub / Proraso a/s balm

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Monday August 20, 2012 Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face wash/scrub with Noxzema, as cold as I could stand it shower Razor: Gillette NEW short comb mounted to an iKon Bulldog handle Blade: NOS Schick Plus Platinum Brush: Semogue 1438 Boar Soap: Tabac AS: Nivea Sensitive Aftershave Balm, followed by a splash of Gillette Cool Wave Post: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Rub, Cold Water Rinse, Aftershave. I have not used the old stock Schick blades for a while so I thought that I would break them out. At one point these where my favorite blade, not so much now. Although the shave was comfortable, there was a slight amount of tugging around my neck. There are much better blades out there for a lot less money. At about $1.00 per blade, I will not be buying any more of these. This is the first time in months that I have used the Nivea balm. I felt like I needed some moisturize on my face and this is good for that, just not enough of a scent for my taste. Overall not a bad shave. Still was able to achieve a DFS in 3 passes with light tough ups.

SOTD Monday 8-20-2012 Parker 90R TTO w/Wilkinson Stainless Blade Proraso PSC Tabac Original SC Omega Boar Dickinson's Witch Hazel Brut Original ASB Aqua Velva Musk ASL/Cologne Haven't used the Parker for awhile so thought I'd give it a go. Parker's kinda got a bad rap about their QC but they fixed that way back in 2010. They are now very good blue collar razors for a meager price that delivers a very nice smooth shave. The 90R is on the aggressive side and should handle the toughest of beards with no problem. Great no fuss razor for a good and close quickie shave.

Over the last several days, each time I've reached in the den to grab a soap, I've gone right to the MWF without hesitation . My face is happy = (can you tell?). Have a great Monday!
Glad to hear Bruce that you are one that judges a razor by it performance and not be it's country of origin or bad rap that is spread by people. Far too often I think many people repeat the same mantra of disinformation that they read on a forum and they take it for the word of God without every trying the razor themselves. I have never had an issue with Parker or Sabi razors (another affordable brand). I concur with you that they are both far more aggressive than their Gillette or EJ counterparts. Not everyone has a spare $60 to $200 to drop on a modern razor, so I think that it is nice to see decent products in the low to mid-range price.

Monday! Prep: hot washing cloth Music: David Bowie, best of, cd2 Brush: Omega travel boar Soap: Palmolive stick Razor: Gillette flare tip Rocket Blade: Derby (#4) Shave: 3-pass + touch-up Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse Guess what. DFS. Have a great week!
Monday: Razor - Gladweg push button DE Blade - Rainbow (4) Brush - VDH boar Lather - Williams (current) A/S - Lucky Tiger Aspen
I want to like the derby blade. I tried it several times now. First pass is great. Anything after that is nicks. Had to bust out my AOS alum block for some damage control. The M Bomb and TSD aftershave smoothed things over.
