Tuesday Morning - belated post ... Pre (Eucerin, warm shower) Omega 10083 Pro boar MWF Merkur 23c w/ Kai Stainless Steel Post (Cetaphil, Dickinson's WH, cold water rinse) DFS+ by means of wtg, xtg. Extra close today. One more pass and it would have easily reached BBS. In my Merkur 23c, I prefer the Kai to Feather. The Kai really smooths out after a shave or two. Pure silk!
Wednesday's shave: Musgo Real pre shave oil Calani Dubai shave soap Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush with Silver Tip Fibre Merkur Futur on 4 TiP real.- DE blade (day 2) Bloc Osma Alum D.R. Harris Marlborough after shave All except the after shave identical to yesterday. Day 2 with this unnamed store brand blade and I am rather sure that it is not for me. Today's shave lacked the efficiency I have come to be used to from other blades, notably my all-time favourite. I decided to dial the Futur up to 4 (never done that before) because it just didn't feel like it was getting all the stubble. Definitely reminded me of the Personna blades I have tried in the past, that was the same sensation. Tomorrow, I'll load up a Voskhod.

Late Tuesday Night or Early! Wednesday Morning Got an earlier than usual start planned for tomorrow ... so after my belated SOTD posting, I started thinking about catching a shave before bed. Pre (Eucerin, cool shower) Simpson Milk Churn MWF Merkur 23c w/ Kai Stainless Steel + Astra SP Post (Cetaphil, Dickinson's WH, Nivea Sensitive lotion) Master Bay Rum BBS- with a little effort (I.e., wtg, xtg, atg, water shave). This wonderfully smooth Kai blade finally had enough after 2 passes . Should have stopped there, but needed a BBS to be presentable in the morning. Swapped out for the Astra SP . Too late. A little irritation. Bay Rum before bed? Hmmmm ... habit, I suppose. Does make a nice cooling body splash.

Menthol Wednesday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/Rapira day 3 Italian Palmolive Menthol SC Visal AS Gel Osage Rub AS Azzaro Pour Homme EDT Menthol Week continues for me with another great and frigid shave with the Palmolive Menthol cream from Italy, followed by two other powerfully-mentholated products. The Visal gel smells nice and not only cools, it also soothes and protects the skin from irritation. I think we all know the beauty of the Osage Rub!

6/8 Double Duck Windsor SS Vie Long Beehive Horse hair Nice shave this morning. A friend sent me a horse hair beehive brush (Vie Long-Bullgoose) to try out for a few shaves. Nice brush, it performed well, perhaps not as dense as I'm used to but no complaints. This brush is far superior to the only other horse brush I've tried and one I wouldn't mind owning. Have a good one. picture hosting

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Wendesday August 22, 2012 Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face wash/scrub with Noxzema, as cold as I could stand it shower Razor: GEM 1912 Damaskeene Blade: ASR Carbon Single Edge (2) Brush: Semogue 1438 Boar Soap: Tabac AS: British Sterling Post: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Rub, Cold Water Rinse, Aftershave. Music: 30 Seconds to Mars - Unplugged versions of Hurricane and Night of Hunter After a great SE shave yesterday I thought why not use the Damaskeene today. This and the G-Bar remain my two favorite SE razors, and I have gone through many. Both provide an excellent amount of whisker reduction with very little effort. I went with the Tabac today, as who does not love tallow. Unless you are a primate it is impossible to build a bad lather with the Tabac and the Semogue 1438 Boar combination. The two seemed to be paired in a holy union of lather making ability. Three passes, light tough ups and I have a better than a DFS. The British Sterling along with English Leather and Aqua Velva Musk have become my favorite aftershaves. In all fairness I need to try a few more, such as the Speick and the very loved Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum. I was a "Clubman Man" for the longest of time, but for me and my body chemistry, it is hard to beat British Sterling.
