Lately I have been liking the extra scritch of the Tweezerman badger when face lathering Arko. I acquired many brushes running away from scritch, now I am drawn to it.

Had a great shave today! Prep is key as many of you believe. I don't always the time to go through a decent shave prep routine. But when I do, my shave is much closer and with less irritation.

Prep 1: Light brushing of Daisy Mountain Naturals shave soap follower by hot wash cloth for 1 minute.
Prep 2 Light brushing of Omega Shave Cream followed by hot wash cloth for 1 minute.
    Soap: Omega Shave Soap
    Blade: Astra (Day 4 I think :) )
    Razor: Parker 22R

With the add'l prep, I was able to achieve a near BBS with very little irritation. Minimal razor irritation which subsided moments after shaving. Still feeling the nice cooling of the eucalyptus oil in the Omega soap. I am certain Jeff would be proud. :)

Here's a perfect cream to continue Menthol Week - Godrej Menthol Mist is so cold and beautiful with its great scent and super-rich lather. The Osage Rub/444 partnership delivered an awesome post-shave freeze. I find the Rapiras to be the ideal blades for my Super Speed because they give me terrific shaves with a lot of comfort. ;) :D

    Razor: 58 Gillette Super Speed
    Blade: Voskhod
    Pre shave: Proraso
    Brush: Vulfix 1000A
    Soap: TSD Lanolin Sandalwood
A/S: Thayers w/ Aloe then TSD A/S Milk, Sub Zero

First shave with TSD Lanolin. I didn't get as creamy a lather as with the Tabac, but it seemed to glide better. DFS as well, and my face did feel fantastic after. The Sub Zero was very refreshing. I think I would order it with more menthol, this was just a sample. Next shave I am going to try the Osage Rub sample that I got.

Razor: 68 Slim Gillette Adjustable (N4) (set on 9)
Blade: Lord Super Stainless (5th use)
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Bowl: Gravy Boat Scuttle
Cream or Soap: Mama Bears Soap (Beau Brummel)
A/S: Alum & Cold Water Rinse
    A/S: Aqua Velva Musk

This mornings shave was a pleasant 3-pass BBS. I do not think the Lord SS will be good for another shave; there was a little tugging near the end of my shave.

    Pre-Shave Lather: MW Roselimone
Shave Oil: 5Savages Shave Oil (grape seed & castor oil, clove & tea tree EOs)
    Razor: Gillette Old Type
    Blade: Ladas (3)
    Brush: Vulfix 660S Medium
Soap/Cream: RazoRock La Famiglia - Chumba Cheech SS
    Post: Nivea Revitalizing Q10 ASB

My first shave with the Gillette Old Type, or any open comb for that matter. I felt the blade more than I'm use to but it was not uncomfortable at all. End result was a fantastic shave.

I took a break from the IK for a preshave and use the MW. Phenomenal lather, as always.

Thus ends the test of my Ladas in all my razors. My best razors for the Ladas are my 42C, Black Beauty, and my Super Speed, but the Old Type is right up there as well.

I've been sleeping late recently. This morning I had to shave at work, a thing I have rarely done! It went not too badly, but I really wouldn't want to make a habit of it.

    Have a great day, everyone.

Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face wash/scrub with Noxzema, cold shower.
    Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89L
    Blade: Perma-Sharp Super
    Brush: Semogue 820 Boar
    Soap: Lea Sensitive Cream
    AS: English Leather
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Rub, Cold Water Rinse, Aftershave.

It has been a long time since I have used the EJ so I thought I would take it for a spin today. Dave was kind enough to PIF me a 5 pack of the Perma-Sharp Super blades. These are GREAT blades, I would highly recommend them to anyone that has not tried them.

The EJ loaded with the Perma-Sharp plowed through my whiskers like a hot knife through butter. This blade was so smooth I first thought that I had forgot to load the razor until I looked at the amount of stubble in my lather. The first pass prived better whisker reduction than many razor/blade combinations after 2 passes. I was able to get a a true BBS with three passes with virtually no touch-ups. For my beard growth this blade is definately one that I will have as part of my rotation.

The Lea performed great again, I really enjoy this cream and cannot wait to try the Lea Menthol that I have ordered from Joe (along with a bunch of other goodies).

I cannot say enough good things about the Semogue 820 Boar. Although I prefer the 1438 over it, it is a fine brush to add to your rotation. I have a few more Semogues on the way, as I want to make sure that I give proper drying time to the two that I have.

    Another great shaving day.

I wasn't feeling the love today from the OCMM/Pella combo, normally when I head shave with this combo I never have to do touch-ups,the last 2 shaves needed touch-up work.I ended up using the R41 for touch-up's.I'm thinking maybe bad blade, usually I get 8 shaves from a Pella,so I ditched this blade after 4 shaves.

The R41 actually did show the love today,I got a BBS in 2 passes on my face.I haven't been using the R41 on my head but I think that may change.I ended up going over most of my head with the R41 with no blood split,:D.

As far as I know the R41 head used on the three piece Merkurs (15C, 1904 etc.) have the same geometry as used on the Muhles (2010) open combs which were replaced in 2011 by the imfamous shark tooth. (tooth comb head) The Muhle R101's (black and white handles) have been discontinued and are no longer available. The discontinued Merkur 11C is a two piece razor but the head geometry is the same as (or equivalant) to the R41 (2010) except the base plate is permanently attached to the handle of the 11C. Hope that helps.
