August 24 2012 Boker King Cutter 5/8ths, full hollow, spike point Vie Long Cachurro horsehair brush J M Fraser's original scent s/c Pinaud Lime Sec a/s Bigelow Barber Black e de c This old King Cutter worked a whole lot better than it did a couple of days ago - a little work with the Thuringian and the pasted strop did wonders. The Vie Long was an impulse buy yesterday when I went to TBBS to pick up the J M Fraser's. I think I'm going to like it! Have a great day, everyone. Graham

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Friday August 24, 2012 Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face wash/scrub with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, cold shower. Razor: FaTip Grande Chrome Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (2) Brush: 1950's Stanley Home Products Badger Soap: The Shave Den Sandalwood Wheat Cream AS: Aqua Velva Musk Post: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Rub, Cold Water Rinse, Aftershave. What can I say...the shave was excellent as expected. With good lather and a sharp blade, the only thing that could have gone wrong was bad technique. If I did not get a good shave I would have had nothing to blame but myself. Two full passes and touch up's on jawline and neck provide damn near BBS results.
Friday soak brush/Semogue SOC/DB Brush Scuttle filled with ice water warm shower Proraso PrePost cream Mama Bear's Awakenings shave soap (face lathered) Tradere OC/Gillette Silver Blue (2) cold water rinse Monster Block Alum cold water rinse/ice cube rub Thayer's Medicated Superhazel mixed with 4 drops M-Bomb one drop sneaked on by me Pitralon Classic mixed with a pea sized amount of 444 I haven't been getting much love from the Tradere/Silver Blue combo.I got a nice 2 pass shave on my face, but my head didn't feel the love.I got 2 tiny head weepers and a lil drag from the blade.I wasn't sure if I liked this combo the last time I shaved with it and I've come to the conclusion that this blade is way better in a Gillette razor than in some of my others. In fact I love this blade in the Gillettes I've tried it in,other razors not so much, unlike a Gillette 7 O'Clock Black which so far I haven't found a razor it didn't like. On the plus side it was a nice and frosty shave

Pre shave - Arko Razor - Filarmonic SubCero #12 Strop - 3" Snake, Shell Cordovan & Genuine Linen Hanging Razor Strop Brush - GOSH Heritage Soap - Mike's Unscented Cold Rinse/ Witch Hazel/ Prof Blighty's English Oak Aftershave Splash Hmm, a bit of a rough shave... BBS, but face is a little sore..... not quite getting the soap slick enough for a straight shave yet, so will work on it with the D/E's :-/
Friday: TSD unscented lanolin soap Muhle HJM blackfibre synthetic brush EJ DE89l Astra SP blade TSD unscented aftershave milk This was my first lather with the new TSD lanolin soap. It's a very soft soap, similar in texture to Cella. I applied with the shave stick and face lathered with the very soft Muhle brush. My lather was a little too thin, so I guess that I didn't apply enough soap. More tomorrow! Good shave, 3 passes, very smooth.
Friday, 08/24/2012 A typical morning start hot shower. Brush choice a Semogue 1460, lathered Malaspina "Gentleman's Quarter Oatmeal" Razor changed to a Gillette "Super Adjustable" dialed to #6, it's partner a Chroma blade. The razor and blade combo was an excellent choice. The #6 setting was the ideal setting three comfortable passes. End result was a an exceptional superior DFS. Everyone have a great weekend!!
Nice refreshing BBS shave today. Took two days off while battling a nasty summer cold. Still have the remains of the cold, but my face is smooth and refreshed! Brush: Semogue 830, banded boar Razor: Merkur 41c open-comb 1904 Blade: Dorco ST301 - 3 or 4 ...not sure | trimmed Feather blade as a shim Soap: Pre de Provence Toner: Thayer's Rose Petal WH Finish: Gillette Cool Wave AS splash Ahhhh! Happy Shaving! - John
It is a very soft brush, and not densely packed, not much backbone. I always apply soap or cream directly to my face and then apply the wet brush. I haven't tried loading this brush directly from a cake of soap. I don't think that would work especially well with it. This brush does very well whipping up cream in a bowl. I have to say that it's not my favorite for the way I normally lather. That title clearly goes to the HIS synthetic, but that is a rather large brush, soft but firmly packed.
Friday, Dropkick Murphy's on shuffle Hot Shower, soak brush Noxema Original Deep Cleansing Cream GeoFTrumper Coconut Soap 'lil Pure Badger Brush '73 Black Handle SuperSpeed w/ Voskhod (1) RSC Shave Oil (ATG pass only) Warm+Cold Water Rinse Blue Floid AS I'm on vacation so I had a nice relaxing shower and shave at 1:30 in the afternoon. I thought I'd try a new soap, and was a little concerned with the lather from the GFT, it's seemed a bit light compared to the VDH stuff I'm used to. I was pleasantly suprised with how well it performed. I ended up with a very nice DFS! I'l be putting the GFT Coconut into my rotation for sure!
