Friday SOTD (morning) Pre (Eucerin, warm shower) Omega 10083 Pro boar T&H Ultimate Comfort. cream Merkur 23c w/ Astra SP Post (Cetaphil, cold water rinse) DFS+ by means of wtg, xtg. Decided to switch things up and pull my L'Occitane Cade out for a spin. Didn't happen. Pulled out the T&H, an old standby, instead. The only cream I really use. The only cream I like for that matter. Great stuff. It has ... substance ... like my beloved soaps. Protective. No (or light) scent. Doesn't strip my face of moisture. Decent lather. All the standards I hold my soaps to! And this is a cream!?!? What's this world coming to ... .

Sattaday! Prep: hot washing cloth Music: Philip Glass, Glassworks Brush: DVH boar Soap: vintage Williams Razor: Rockin' Rolls Shave: 3-pass + touch-up Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse Excellent shave, close, very close to BBS. Just a spot near my adams' apple, where the hairs grow in all directions. Usually J-hooking does the trick. Not so today, but the shave was great none the less! Rolls shaves tend to be more agressive than DE or SE shaves (well at least to me ). But the result varies from good to great! I really love this razor! However I can't compare it to str8. Yet. But it's my birthday soon and maybe I'll get some funding for a visit to Whippeddog's shop. So. It is weekend. Have some loads of fun, all!

Menthol Saturday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/Rapira day 6 Derbylux SC 444 AS Balsam Barbon AS Chabrawichi 555 Cologne A simply magnificent shave this morning with so little effort - the Rapira blade is on its last day, but it cut off my tough stubble with no problems at all, so you can imagine what a new blade could do. The best way to describe the Derbylux cream is to call it a Hungarian Proraso Green because it lathers great and has a LOT of menthol. The 444 balsam and the Barbon aftershave are also terrific face-freezers!!

6/8 Double Duck TOBS Lavender SS 24mm Grade A Silver Tip, homemade AV Musk This completes a week of shaving with the DD and it was a week of fine shaves. I brought a new brush into rotation this morning, a 24mm Grade A Silver Tip set at 47-48mm. I'm getting fond of the Grade A knot, it's a fine performer, IMO. Watch your loft and you'll have a excellent brush. Have a good one! photo hosting

Not all soaps are created equal. While most soaps are slick enough for my DE and SE shaves, I've come to prefer TSD soaps for my straight razor shaves. JoAnna's soaps seem to be just a touch slicker. I'll even break my soap rotation to get to a TSD soap if something else happens to come up on Saturdays (my str8 shave day of the week).
