I remember that day watching the color TV at the black and white images in 1969 when he stepped foot on the moon. An era is truly passing away. Rest In Piece Mr. Armstrong.
And now he's exploring the next frontier....A great hero and inspiration for all....God bless his soul...
Its a very sad day... I just left the museum of science and industry in Chicago where we had just went through the Apollo 11 exhibit when I had heard.
Thanks for posting this tag. I remember the event at the time as it was broadcast live and man..that was exciting! Then there was all the commentary by the legendary Walter Cronkite and the good people at the CBC...
I remember watching with awe as Neil Armstrong took those first steps on the moon. In those days any space voyage was a big deal, but for mankind to actually walk on the moon was just unbelievable. Neil Armstrong is among just a few who brought hope, a sense of pride and a inspiration to all people around the world. Neil you will be missed but never forgotten.
That era has sadly long since passed. Come December 14th of this year, it'll have been 40 years since mankind has last set foot on the moon, since that was the day the last Lunar Module lifted off from the lunar surface and helped return the crew of Apollo 17 to Earth. Still, my sentiments exactly. Rest In Piece Mr. Armstrong. What you and everyone involved with the Apollo program achieved was and still is nothing strong of amazing.
