I read that the super blues are good for a shave or two but I have no idea on the remaining! I did get two English Swords and one Personna 74 out of the small purchase...the blades came with the purchased razors. Vintage Blades.jpg

I've used the Gillette THIN. Typical for me - five 3-pass shaves.
Not bad. Not the greatest I've used, but not bad. I still have a few left. I'll use 'em.
Sweet score, by the way :happy088:

Sweet guys...thank you for the responses. I wonder which of the 'vintage' blades, not out of this lot, just overall, are/were considered the 'sharpest.'

A member here gave me a pack of vintage Rugal blades of Germany , they came in a box sealed in plastic wrap. Once opened I could smell machine oil. The one I used seemed to deliver a good shave. Seems the plastic wrap might have helped preserve the blades for use.

When I got my GoodWill there was a partial pack of Gillette Blue Blades with it. I tried one. Terrible is being nice. The other 3 blades are in a drawer NEVER to be unwrapped.

I have 1,200 Gillette Super Blues. I like 'em, but mine were very well preserved. Most vintage blades are a meh. Gillette thins were decent. I had a horrible time with the Mystery Edge blades.

I've enjoyed using many different vintage blades. They have ranged from wow to yikes and the only way to find out is to try them. The "Gillette Slide" technique is a must. An adjustable razor set low also helps. The great thing about many of the old blades is their ability to shave close with no nicks.
