When I got my 1951 Aristocrat, it came with Gillette Blue Blades. I haven't used them, but I'm going to try one. They're probably around 61 years old. Anybody know if I'm likely to carve my face up?

I've never had the chance to use Gillette Blue Blades. But the Aristocrat is one sweet safety razor :). Have you had it long?

AFAIK, they have a good reputation. Just be sure they're not rusty or corroded and you might want to give them a dip in rubbing alcohol. Otherwise, good luck!

  4. Adelio, are your blades blue or silver blue?
Good luck and please let us know how it went

I've had it about four months, and I do love it. I have an early Gold Tech on the way, but I can't imagine switching. It's hard for me to understand the razor acquisition disorder. I pretty much stick to Proraso shaving soap too. I must be a minmalist by nature.

I do not recommend a Gillette Blue in an Aristocrat especially if you have never used old carbon blades. The Aristocrat is not a mild razor and will bring out the bite in the Blue. I would try it in an adjustable razor set low. You can always dial it up if you have the nerve.

Thanks. Maybe I'll wait until I get my Gold Tech, reputedly a mild razor.
