Jody, you broke my heart - I'm gonna cry all week, bro! (Just kidding!) For my Menthol Monday Shave, this will be my set-up: Omega Silver Handle Super Speed/new Sharp Italian Palmolive Menthol SC Diana Sport Menthol Balsam Osage Rub AS Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui EDT Brrrrrrrrrrrr, does this Palmolive Menthol cream ever freeze your face, and each pass is colder than the previous one. I've said this before and I'll say it again - unless you can tolerate extremely strong menthol, don't even think about using this Diana Sport balsam because it's colder than Osage Rub. (and that's cold!)
I haven't gotten to it just yet, but tomorrow's shave will be back to the Merkur DE with Astra SP blades. Soap of the week: TSD Desperado w/ lanolin.
Good morning! Today’s shave was another very enjoyable Moment of Zen. I inaugurated both the vintage Rotbart Mond-Extra razor as well as the Rotbart “Extra Dünn” razor blade. I had high hopes for this combination and held off with it until today in order to kick off another fantastic decade with my beautiful wife (we’ve celebrated our 10th Anniversary over the weekend). It’s going to be even more exciting now that we’ve been joined by our son ;-) Back to shave-related matters. My set-up today consisted of: Calani Dubai shave soap Semogue #1305 shave brush Rotbart Mond - Extra razor Rotbart “Extra Dünn” razor blade (1.) Bloc Osma alum Musgo Real Classic after shave A thoroughly enjoyable shave, I must admit. That vintage Rotbart razor is one little nimble and solidly built shaver and the Rotbart blade is really good, IMHO. Feels very sharp yet very smooth at the same time, even my beloved Feather show their teeth more on the first shave. The razor is a touch more direct than, say, the Merkur OCs such as an 11C. Two passes today resulted in one of those few shaves which I would dare classify as BBS with absolutely zero irritation. I guess everything just fell nicely into place and ‘clicked’. Wishing all of you equally outstanding shaves this week and happy days ahead!
10-1-12 No shave this morning. Still feels nice overall from yesterdays shave. Might be an evening shave.

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Monday October 1, 2012 Prep: Brush soaking in warm water, face wash with Noxzema Triple Clean, tepid shower Razor: Feather AS-D1 Blade: Polsilver SI with one shim Brush: Custom TGN 21mm Silvertip Badger Cream: Herbs of Bulgaria Lavender AS: Aqua Velva Musk Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave What a difference a new blade and a shim can make. Although I did not get a BBS from the AS-D1 today, I did get a damn fine shave. The Polsilver SI seems to be a much better match for this razor than the Feather, which I must say surprised me. I would have thought being a Feather Razor that a Feather blade would work best. The addition of one shim also made a difference in the gap, making it shave much more like a Tech. This may be the way that I have to use this razor, and if that is the case, I am okay with that. It is not a big deal to add a shim, as we all have plenty of used blades. I spent a good part of the day yesterday re-watching GeoFatBoy's and ManMachine's videos over and over. I normally shave with the water running in the sink. Today I turned the water off so I could pay attention to feedback from the razor, and adjusting angle where needed. My face is BBS smooth, while the area from my jawline down is about 80% smooth, while the rest is DFS. The real test will be to see how long my face remains this way for, as previously I had major stubble within a few hours. Will follow-up later in the day and once I get home, but I must say that I am happy with today's results.
Monday evening: Fantastic Monday here with a long weekend / public holiday. Lots of family time. Pre shave: Hot Shower / Proraso Pre SC Shave Mug: Old Spice 60's. Shave Brush: Men'sBiz Super Badger Shave Cream: Triumph & Disaster 'Old Fashioned' SC Razor: Merkur 34C Razor Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (2) Post Shave: Cold water rinse / Nivea Post SC 3 fantastic passes (WTG / XTG / ATG) for a DFS+ Really happy with my products at the moment so am continuing with them for October. Will head back to the Personna Blades after this one though. I am looking for a wider shave mug / shave bowl that won't see me 'clanging' the brush off it. Open to all suggestions that are not ridiculously expensive. What ever is left of your Monday where you are, enjoy it.

October 1 2012 Boker King Cutter 5/8ths, full hollow, spike point Vie Long Cachurro horsehair Creamware scuttle Proraso Green s/s Pinaud Bay Rum a/s Rochas e de c I have three scuttles that have been gathering dust for a long time. I added them to the collection simply for the sake of having them, but recently I've started using and enjoying the hot dense lather they provide - don't know why it took me so long to figure it out! Have a great day, everyone. Graham
SOTD Monday 10-1-2012 5/8 Joseph Rodgers Wedge, Hollow Point Proraso PSC Tabac SC Semogue 820 Boar Dickinson's Witch Hazel Nivea Replenishing ASB Pashana Original ASL Had to hydrate the puck of Tabac this morning as it was pretty dried out. I have not used it for awhile and it showed it displeasure with me; whimpy lather and not the powerful and wonderful scent that I remember from the past. The cushion and glide were still there though so it did it's job. Looks like I will get back to my straights for awhile so I don't lose the touch.
