Turkish pre-shave today with the Akro and #6 horse hair brush. The two Turkish buddies whipped a up a nice lather. I have had some trouble with the 1904 classic before but as this is OC week I wanted to give it another try. The effective blade angle range is very small so I had to really pay attention. This time I manged to get quite a good shave but I had to use a very small amount of pressure. No big deal because I didn't get any irritation. I would say the shave fell just short of BBS. The Brut is nice and has a very long-lasting fragrance.

    Cheers, Lyndon

There is definitely a difference in the performance of the 2 Proraso Green creams - the newer version is much better, although the older version I still have is very good also. I had to rush this shave a little, but it still turned out really nice and smooth. Sorry for not showing any photos today. ;) :D

Very good shave again this morning. I've never used much shaving cream because I've always been pretty happy with soap and I think the fact that I never grew up around anyone that used it. Shaving soap is "normal" for me. I'm going to attempt to use it daily for awhile and try and get a good feel for it. We'll see how long it last before I'm back to soap. Have a good one. BTW, the Chubby is long gone. It lasted for 2 shaves.

Prep: Brush soaking in cold water, face wash with Noxzema Triple Clean, warm shower
    Razor: Feather AS-D1
    Blade: Polsilver SI (3)
    Brush: Semogue SOC Cherrywood Boar
    Soap: Tabac
    AS: Brut Classic
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave

Today I removed the shim from the AS-D1 and was able to get a good shave!!! Even on shave number three with the SI the razor had done a fine job on stubble reduction.

For me, the formula that seems to work is two passes on face, three on neck, and buffing in my usual trouble areas. That is not much different than my normal routine, except for the buffing with the AS-D1 does not make my neck or jawline feel raw.

Face Wash: Nivea Moisturizing Face Wash
    Pre-Shave Lather: Dalan D'Men Sensitive
    Pre-Shave Oil: None
Shave Lather: DR Harris - Arlington SS
    Razor: Gillette Old Type
    Blade: SuperMax Platinum (1)
    Brush: TGN Finest, 18mm
Post: Witch Hazel/Rum/Aloe/Glycern mixture followed by Nivea Sensitive ASB

This was my first time using the DR Harris Arlington. The scent wasn't as strong as I was expecting but I think my smeller wasn't working up to par last night. The lather was easy to make, plentiful, and worked great. I can see why the DRH soaps get so much love.

The SuperMax platinum gave me a bit of irritation in my Old Type, but I did get a very close shave. I'll go a bit lighter on the pressure tonight.
