Friday 2 November 2012 A great shower, afterwards prepped my face with pre shave soap form Proraso. Working my through the croap samples today's choice was P-160 Lathering duty was assign to the Vulfix 28. It is a little workhorse of a brush. Blade change for the SS today, chose to load it with a Chroma blade. Been experimenting with two pass shave. The shaves have been DFS. Everyone have a great weekend.
Shave of the Day (SOTD) November 2, 2012 Prep: Brush soaking in cold water, face wash with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower Razor: Matador Capa Dorada Open Comb Blade: Perma-Sharp Super Stainless Brush: Semogue 1438 Boar Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus (New Formula) AS: Brut Original Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave Late at posting my shave of the day as I had some minor oral surgery today (three post had to be implanted). First use of the Proraso new formula, I really like it, a lot actually. I have never used Prosaso in the tub before, just the tube. A nice menthol, it did not feel as cold as the Lea on the first lathering, but by my second lather, my face felt as cold as the frozen tundra. I may never buy Prosaso in the tube again, as this feels slicker, has more cushion and takes a lot less product to load the brush. Speaking of brushes, I had to use the 1438 again today. It really does a great job at face lathering, I just love this little brush. The bristles have split very nicely, plenty of backbone, yet soft enough where you do feel much scritch. It was also the first use of the Matador Open Comb, although the head is identical to the Cadet which I have used for about a month. What separates the Matador apart for me is the handle. I really love both the weight and the feel of it in my hand. The shave with the Perma-Sharps is nothing short of amazing, two passes and light buffing and I was done. I finished off with Brut but wished I would have slapped on some Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue as I wanted more freeze.
4 days growth Long comb NEW Thin coat of King of Shaves gel followed by hot Tabac soap Three pass shave: Silver Star carbon (1st 2 passes), finished up with Big Ben stainless A few very minor nicks; I think the gel disrupted the soap somewhat, but ended up BBS. "Challenge" a/s The NEW and the Big Ben are as good a match as I expected they'd be.
TSD Preshave Red Tip SS w/ Voshkod TOBS Sandalwood Soap Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve Had to laugh a little for the Cold War mash-up in my razor/blade choice but it turned out well. I revisited my TOBS after a long time without it and I found it still works great and I haven't lost my touch with it. Going out tonight and for a special occasion I figured some Special Reserve.
Friday - 02.11.2012 Due to lack of time and to some extent the start of Mowember, I had not shaved for a few days. So I had a decent amount of stubble to remove But the Gillette 7 o'clock black blade cut it away like nobodys business (whatever that means) I have used this blade a few times before, but it still performed like a brand new Feather blade. And for me the Feather is one of my favorites. I think I need to stock up. I would not be surprised if Gillette discontinued the whole series, just to make way for the Gillette guard. Anyway, heres's what I used: Merkur HD - Very nice razor Gillette 7 o'clock black - The holy handgrenade of razor blades TOOBS - Coconut - Excellent soap Frank Shaving Finest Badger Brush - Always a pleasure Proraso Aftershave lotion - Love the scent and performance of this stuff No need for a balm this time. Excellent performance from all parties involved
Cream: Ingram's Razor: Parker 22R Blade: Astra Brush: TBS Shave Music: Ludico Euanauldi- Ancora I gave the Ingram's another spin today. I have found that the cream hand lathers better than bowl lathering. I got a very close shave today. I have found that I don't think it's the menthol as much as it is the particular scent of the Ingram's I don't care for. The cooling sensation was nice. But I do not like the scent. But a nice slick lather!
hot shower gillette ss razorock nv ( i think from now on i'm only buying rr artisan soaps DGS ) gillette thin (nice blade but not as good as the greens or wilkinson) omega badger ( i dont think i need to list the brush anymore...its the only one i have ) 3 pass DFS cold water rinse good night all!
Saturday: Omega Silver Handle Super Speed/7 AM day 6 Rose of Bulgaria SC Svoboda AS Balsam Osage Rub AS Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui EDT It's a miracle how I didn't get even one weeper this morning after shaving so fast - I guess it's because my Super Speed is just the perfect DE for me. I still strangely enough, turned out 99.9% BBS. I wish the Rose of Bulgaria cream had a better scent because the lather and the skincare are wonderful. The Svoboda balsam is almost like a form of medicine, and it cools and soothes my skin so well, and it prepares it for the Rub's massive freeze!

Filly Sub Cero TOBS Lavender SS 28mm Finest, Homemade Stephan's Lilac Took the pic then changed my mind at the last moment and used the TOBS instead of the Simpson SC. Great shave, I hate to pull the Filly out of rotation and bring in a replacement for next week. Have a good one. online photo storage
To me it's a clean old school barbershop scent. If you have ever had the back of your neck shaved by the barber after a haircut (a lot of the barbers don't even do this anymore...sad) that's the scent. Mild fresh and clean scented. Very nice.
