Greetings forum! I just decided to make this post after shaving and attending a gathering. while I was prepping myself I had noticed I was out of new blades, and decided to use my old used out blade. But after I was done shaving and applied some astringent I noticed that it hadn't stinged like usual. But once I got to the gathering the building it was held in was very humid from having so many people, so as I had rubbed my neck I noticed some pain. So I'm wondering if any one else noticeses that humidity can affect razor bumps or razor burn? Also I know people say that newer sharper blades are better for your shave, but has any one noticed that a duller blade gives less irritation, or maybe it's just that my technique has gotten better? Has any one else made these observations aswell? Also does any one else notice that irritation also gets worse when wearing a shirt and tie? My irritation usually consists of just one or two little razor bumps. For those that are wondering I shave with a Merkur classic, and a Gillete red tip.

P.S. I just happened to remember that I have also noticed that after I abstain from shaving for 4 days or longer, then shave that I get razor bumps. Any one also notice this? My take on it is that the hair length is too much and the razor tends to pull the hair out. Any one else have an idea as to why? Thanks in advance!

For me, the main irritant is an off-schedule shave - an early shave being worse than a late one.

Living in South Louisiana I guess I've never noticed it because heat and humidity is a constant here. I mean it's December 14 and the temp for tomorrow is going to be in the 70's. I have noticed irritation differences with different blades, but I Always thought that it was a YMMV kind of thing. Feathers and Derby's both irritate my face and they certainly are in different leagues as far as sharpness goes. A bad or incomplete prep is probably my biggest factor to a less than enjoyable shave....:)
