    :signs046: to TSD humpheryfish....:)
Like you I've spent the last 30+ years of my life wet shaving 10-12 miserable days a month using canned crap and a Trac2 razor :angry032: !! Now I shave everyday and it's a total pleasure :love055:!!
I'm fan and user of the EJ89 shave head myself. The handle unfortunately is to smooth and slick for me with wet hands and is virtually unusable, so I had to replace it. I've used a Gillette Fat Handle tech handle,Sabi T2 BullDog and Weber SS BullDog all of which look and work Very WELL!! I hope you like it here as much as I do.......:D

The EJ89 model I have has ridges on the handle. I wonder if it's a different model. It's the lbl.

I have the bl its completely smooth and shiney...:) From the first use it gave me that "its going to slip out of my hands "feeling. Do you feel those ridges help?

The ridges absolutely help. It doesn't feel slippery at all to me.

Welcome aboard. Glad you are off to a good start. Folks here are a great source of information on shaving, as well as related hobbies (e.g. collecting vintage razors, restoring old brushes, building custom brushes, etc.)

:signs011: And I'm meticulous about keeping my right hand dry for fear of dropping and breaking my razor or cutting myself. But I would like to upgrade to bulldog type grip at some point that way it doesn't matter if my hand it wet.

I don't think you'll regret getting a heavier/grippier handle JRod. You can get something vintage like a Gillette Fat Handle tech handle or Durham Duplex DE handle, something new like a Cadet or the Sabi T1(longer) or T2(shorter) handle for around $25+. Great knurling and weight. If you'd like to step up to stainless steel there is the Weber BullDog or Wave for $38 + shipping or a GreistShaving GS1 SS handle for $38 shipped. There are actually alot of handles to pick from when your ready........:)

Thanks 178 I took a look at all the handles you mentioned. After looking at them, I actually really like the looks of this Sabi [IMG] Love the black and chrome combo and this handle has the kind of grip I was looking for. That razor head looks identical to my De89 head? Is it the same one? Not sure if multiple manufactures use the same heads or not. A plus to getting a Sabi, other than a cheaper price, is that I get a razor head too, which I can put my old handle on and try to get another friend into wet shaving. Any who, thanks for the info. Do you think this handle is worth getting?

Edit: Ok after saying that I did more research and ended up ordering a Weber Bulldog grip. Reading the reviews I was convinced by people who tried many different grips including the Sabi. Apparently the Weber just does wonders to a DE89's performance and seems to out perform other after market grips.

    :happy097:..This stuff gets involved doesn't it...:happy097:
Heres my scoop: I own "ALL" of those razors (think I have a problem??). The razor you have pictured is the "Cadet TP-26" I own the "Cadet TP-27" exact same razor except for the black handle. The Cadet handle is grippy but a little too long(almost 4") for my taste. The one I liked better was the Sabi T2(3" long handle). I've never used a Sabi solid bar head yet as I just love my EJ89 head to much. I got an OC shave head with the Cadet, but I'm finding it to aggresive for my face as of now...:).

I happily used the "Sabi T2" handle until I got R.A.D. for a "Weber SS BullDog" handle(3" long). I've used the "Weber" exclusively since I got it. Honestly while I feel the Weber is slightly better as it's made of SS and American made which I like to give business to good American Co's when I can, gives a "FANTASTIC" grip and handling improvement on the EJ head(like having another razor), also its about the BEST priced of the SS handles. I also just got a Weber Wave(3") SS BullDog type handle that I use on my 1924 EverReady SE. And if you ordered it last night you'll probably get it by Friday or Saturday. FAST shipping in my experience!

All that being said "EITHER" handle works "VERY WELL" I.M.O. and I'm "Very Happy" with all of them!! Again I.M.O. between them it's simply a matter of taste(what style/length you like?) and money(how much can you afford to spend?) after all the Weber while very nice is almost twice the price for just a handle! :)

Now you tell me if I have a problem after all that I've told you, I'm getting ready to order a TP-01SS from shaveabuck. It's the exact same razor as the TP-27 just a shorter(3") handle, but I feel such a NEED to try it!! :happy108:

One more F.Y.I. I just got a Weber SS(uncoated) shave head to try out when I got the Wave handle. While its a nice head and it is SS, for me it honestly isn't better than the EJ89 head as far as comfort or shave quality is concerened. I shim both of the heads. Hope this helped some and didn't confuse you....:)

Thanks man that is a big help. I enjoy reading first hand experience with the stuff I'm interested in. I'm happy with my purchase, can't wait for it to come in, and your right it shipped out all ready. That's a fast turn.
